Knives of 2014

Murray, thank you for the magnificent display! What is the handle material on the Warenski AKI knife, please?

Hi Murray,
Thank you for featuring my work among such beautiful pieces. You've collected some really great work.

Hi Murray,

These exceptional acquisitions will further enhance your extremely fine knife collection. Yes, these are all exquisite and such a pleasure to see!! :D

Always the finest when you see Murray post. Very impressive gathering of knives! Thank you for sharing them.

The carving on the jade -- a leaf is very difficult to see and having spoken to Julie, was something Buster would never repeat and that is why the jade is carved on one side of the handle only. It is a rather exceptional offering of jade compared to what one usually sees and all of the engravings of the knives we have done by Julie are totally different from one another but each is wonderful in its own right.

Murray, what a nice selection you have added this year!

You have many friends here on the forum because in addition to sharing your collection freely with us, you always have one or two photo heavy posts from shows that you and Phyllis attend during the year.. Those show threads are hard to manage, and take a lot of time to put together.. I always appreciate them..

The Harald Meoller fighter and bowie would be my favorites if asked to choose... His work doesn't get shown here much.. I still have the small coffin handled dagger I got from you over 10 years ago... It is such a "sinister" little dagger.... Here's a photo to refresh your memory...

Have a wonderful Holiday Season up in the Great White North, Rich Slaughter

Thanks Rich. You know i love your collection which I feel is one of the best around and I never tire of seeing the great knives you have collected over the years. The little boot knife of Harald Moeller's you have was actually purchased by my son, Dean, and I am thrilled that you still have it and I will be sure to mention this to him when he is over for Xmas.

As another side note, I have continued communicating with Brian and because I was not sure what all was sterling silver on the piece, I asked and this is his reply --

..."all the silver/greyish coloured bits are sterling...the fleaur-de-lis emblems ,the leaves on the scrolls ,etc, all of it ,there is only one metal of that colour used on it...the shading inside the leaves was engraved and blackened and I chemically forced some patina on it for effect ,so perhaps that's why it isn't mirror shiny as you are used to ..most of the pieces were actually made from hallmarked antique cutlery ,so it actually has a bit of history in it too ;-) ..."

The more one looks at the knife and handles it, the more remarkable the workmanship is and it is a knife that I truly treasure. I am very happy to have been able to acquire it and put it among the many other knives we have added to our collection over the past 34 years.

We are also thrilled that so many fine collectors and makers are taking the time to follow this thread and comment on their enjoyment of the knives.

Than you for sharing such an amazing collection with excellent pictures and descriptions.
