Knives of Blade 2013

Congratulations Murray, excellent aquisitions. That Bartrug dagger is great and something you do not get to see that often. I was also drawn to Greg's fighter. Having looked at his five knives a few times, :), that one is my favorite. He did a great job. Always good to see you.

You did very well Murray. As others, I particularly like Greg's piece.
I'm pleased he joined the CKCA.

Always a pleasure to see your knives, Murray. The Shahan JS test fighter shows a great talent in Greg's ability, plus a great talent on your part in recognizing it. Love the lines.

I always like the pieces you collect Murray... They are very diverse, as has been mentioned... You have seen many trends come and go, but I don't think you own any "trendy" knives... Another thing is you always have them out and on display, along with the many things you and your wife have collected in your travels... I need to come up with a special cabinet for my den, (or something), to follow suit... I very much enjoyed all the Blade Show threads, yours included.. Best Regards, Rich

Thanks Rich. Always good to hear from you my friend. I always enjoy all the photos you present of your collection too as you do them so well. It is great that we have such a nice community of fellow collectors that can share and enjoy the great knives created by all our favorite old and new makers of all genres.

Murray, not to derail your post, but here are two old friends for you to get reacquainted with....

Bill Pease recently refurbished the side lock and it's clean as a whistle... I carry this one...

Again, thanks for posting your new knives.. That Shahan fighter shows some Lovestrand influence to me....

Best Regards, Rich

Hey, Rich, that is great to see those knives. I had forgotten where they had been sold. My son, Dean, owned the Moeller and sometime will own a lot more knives when all is "said and done" so to speak.

BTW -- did you ever see the thread related to these Moeller's?

Not sure if I had mentioned about the WD Pease and its relationship to the beginnings of Brian Tighe's knifemaking career.

I used to carry that knife too and when both Brian and I attended a wedding photography seminar it came into the conversation and sometime later, Brian had knives for sale at the CKCC knife show and related that as a machinist/toolmaker he felt knifemaking was something he could do and as we all know it did lead to the 2012 award for most innovative design for this creation.

This is the great thing about our knife community -- we can move the conversation around and have fun with the hobby and talk about knives and their creation and our collecting of them so I never feel that anyone takes a thread away. I'm thrilled you brought these out to see and talk about.

I'm sure that last Sat. Jon Christensen was just as thrilled when he and Roger visited and we chatted about and viewed Roger's fine Bowies he brought to view and the collection on display here and it relation to other artwork.

Murray,
I had a great time visiting with both you and Roger and getting to see/hold such fine knives from both of your collections. I have never seen knives displayed with art work themes like you have done in your home. From Native Canadian to Chinese themes, each with art work that you have collected during your travels.
I still can't get over those bottles with the finely detailed scenes painted on the INSIDE of the bottle.

Jon

Jon -- I very happy that you enjoyed your time here with me and Roger. Remember, you and your family are always welcome at any time.

Murray,

I'm way late, sorry.
Great thread and absolutely fine images and review...

Doug

Doug -- hope you had a chance to see the review of Blade 2013 done while we were in Atlanta. Check it out as I'm sure you will enjoy it if you have not done so thus far.

Murray,

Yes, I did and have been enjoying all of them immensely as long as I've been here.
Excellent as always.
Thank you !

Doug
