Knives of the 2014 East Coast Custom Knife Show (ECCKS)

Thanks! Amazing photos as always. And amazing knives of course.

Those Zscherny 'slip tacs' are something else.

Beautiful work as always Coop! I always look forward to this thread:) That Lake/Hands piece is probably my favorite that I've seen from them to date. Every knife in this thread is a serious head-turner, but I keep going back to that one over and over...wow!

Thanks guys. I'm pleased you are enjoying this visit.

Sometimes pieces come to me at a show, and they are not new. Loveless anyone?

These also came into the beauty parlor.... ;)

Charles Bennica and his brilliant classic folder in brown jasper.

Two variations by Sergio Consoli:

I think I shot six Loerchner family pieces. Creme de la Creme!

No one, and I mean NO ONE, can do the signed sheath as well as Bob did. He had great calligraphy.

'Improved' handle in brown micarta.

Warren AND Simone were here.

Ken Steigerwalt has taken full command of this style.

More tomorrow...

Where's the Lambert you were photographing? It held up his lottery drawing so there better be some sweet pics!

The two Sergio Consoli knives are beautiful. I particularly like Bregoli's engraving.

And Ken Steigerwalt's folder . . . may be my all-time favorite knife of his.

Thanks again, Jim.

Coop, show reviews by you are consistently among my favorites on this forum... You always show a neat cross section with something for everyone... How you maintain the quality standards you have with so many pieces to shoot, and using a "travelling" light set up is amazing to me... Just like so many other guys have posted, it really is the next best thing to being able to see the knives in person... Big thanks and have a great weekend.....

Best Regards, Rich Slaughter

And more....

Barry Davis considers Jim Schmidt (a personal tutor and mentor) in the highest regard. We see his influence.

Vince Evans' work is rarely seen, but SO detailed. This has a lot going on.

Des and Lynda Horn are finer people than this knife, if that's possible!
orig.jpg

We had the pleasure of meeting Julie Lake, Ron Lake's artist/jeweler daughter. She TIG welded the ends of each of these thin SS links.
orig.jpg

Kirby Lambert has elevated his game to the drawings and upper end in Tacticals. Deservedly so.
orig.jpg

Scot Matsuoka always incorporates the most curvy and seductive lines in his style.

One of the standouts of this show was this 'Tourbillion' folder with pearl and carbon fiber inlays from Moro Corrado. He was a tableholder.

A knife worthy of a satin and suede presentation box.

One of our favorite members (Stand up and be proud!) has an OUTSTANDING eye for quality in the next four images. He brought me a forged stash acquired previously.

Don Hanson trio of exceptional folders:

Ariel and Claudio Sobral

David Lisch's work is out of the box and across the room...

...so much so, the judges can't say no! What a stunning piece. (BB 2014 here we come!)

We had the pleasure of meeting Richard Tesarik from the Czech Republic.

They look good open AND closed.

This one is sleek and befitting the office. The clip is especially fine.

Closing with a forged MASTERPIECE by Joe Szilaski. As good as it gets.

I have a few noteworthy examples left to edit and post on Saturday.

^^ As you can see, I have tunnelvision because of our experiencing the quality of the work presented to us.

Thanks for viewing and the compliments. I wish the makers shown to be this much more prominent. :D

Coop

I'm more impressed by what I've seen in this thread, than what I saw at AKI! :0

Ok - I guess I will fess up :p

Jon,

The Hansons are mine, along with the CAS Persian and the 2 from Dave Lisch.

Picked up the Damascus Slipjoint from Don at Arkansas - one of the W2 slipjoints is from LAST Arkansas show...and one is from in-between :D

"Thunderbird Damascus" Persian Integral from Dave and his Best Fighter winning Split ring ball guard were also from Arkansas Show this year
The CAS I got this past year, but never had a good image of.

I brought them all to the ECCKS and Coop and Susan were nice enough to fit them into the "rotation" between show knives :thumbup:

Got to have a short chat that way, and peruse a proof of Coop's upcoming picture book...which will be a BEAUTY btw!

And, as always, Coop came thru with these excellent photos!
