Knives of the New York Custom Knife Show (NYCKS)

Thanks, Coop, for help thawing this frozen, foggy day here in the boreal blue of T-day. That first one is a real mystery, but I finally figured it out . . . baby gator knife . . . given the snout, pop-up eyes, scales, hide, and tail. Very clever, but being on the dull, pragmatic side, I still haven't figured out the what for.

if Tom is referring to the prinsloo, then looks like Bertie's dragonskin damascus....I love that one.

Wow Coop!! Those are some REALLY spectacular knives!!

There were several that REALLY caught my eye!! Thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for the Knife Parade, I enjoyed the whole show. Personally to me, the Ruple was the Winner, just because I am such an old fogy and love the old traditional looking patterns.

Looks great. I also like the Owen Wood knife.

The show seemed pretty slow, so its great to see that you got to snap these. There is always room for some nice photos of a collection.

I thought the Ruple was awesome, too. In fact, it is my desktop background for the next while.

Outstanding display of knives Coop. Great knives and superb photos. I also found the Owen Wood with tortoise shell to be a standout. The Prinsloo gator knife is very cool also.

Thanks for the holiday treat,
Peter

Coop, Thank you. We will call that the Thanksgiving day knife parade. I liked then all.

Thanks Dave. A suitable description!

wonderful! What kind of damascus is on that first one???

Hi Tom, glad you asked. Yes, at first glance Bertie Reitveld's 'dragon skin' damascus comes to mind, but the ever-talented Lourens Prinsloo forged the mosaic pattern himself. Possibly with Bertie's guidance? WOW!

And... that is crocodile skin as the scale overlay. The knife serves no further function than to please the eye and senses with it's creativity. To that end it has a solid purpose. (If you read in my album, it won an award in S. Africa.)

Love those Winkler pieces. If anyone knows what the wood-handled version went for, please drop me a line.
From what I understand, this is a line of axes that Daniel is going to make consistently for any clients, because of the popularity. I suspect it went home with him.

i think kevin casey deserves much more attention than he seems to get here. his damascus is exquisite, and he makes really nice folders. haven't handled one, however...
Agreed fully. His folders are a rarity. I have handled them, and he is on my bullseye list to acquire one. I was **this close** to getting the fine feather blade, but I wanted a different set of scales. Next time.

I hope you all spent the time reading my captions. They help give insight. I pretended I was writing for the Knives Annual..... ;)

Great pics..
The knife by Don Hanson is a beauty. Very tasteful.

The knife by Dan Crotts is a very interesting combination.
Modern styling, kydex sheath and Ironwood?.. I LIKE IT

Excellent work Coop! I like what you're doing with some of the closed folder views.
