Eight is a solid number before the back shrug. My cat wouldn't even tolerate one. That's a well-behaved cat, or maybe he's just used to your hobby weirdness. Be careful with those edges though.

Little Gray Kitty is feral but my wife has fed and taken care of her for over a decade now. She is so happy to come inside for food and a long nap on the sofa that she’ll put up with almost anything

Goes without saying but some of our feral cats are total degenerates. Grakitty however is a proper lady when she comes inside. Except for the time she sneaked up and took a dump in the center of the bedspread of our upstairs guest bed...
