I had been looking for a new edc and the Cold Steel Ultimate Hunter peaked my interest that was up until I seen Taiwan on the blade and being a Marine I prefer to buy American as much as possible. That said I'm looking for an American made knife that's really similar

Things I like about it

Blade shape
Grip
Price point 125 or less
Lockback design but open to others

Things I don't like

Clip
Warranty

Thanks in advance

Its not a lock back but the buck vantage pro is American made with a s30v blade, for the price I haven't seen a knife that could compete

i dont have the CS hunter, but ive wanted one for a long time now. it looks like it would make a superb edc. i dont really know of anything american made that is really similar, i would just make an exception and buy one anyway. it really looks like a great edc knife. the only other knives i can think of that may come close are

actually there is the gerber 39 series, it has a smiliar shape

Im planning on getting an ultimate hunter soon...it looks like a good design...and since I wont be getting a Demko AD10 any time soon the UH should suffice. I heard most materials were made in USA but it's assembled in Taiwan, not sure if that is true...

The Ultimate Hunter was my 2nd CS purchase, first was XHP Recon, and it is head and shoulders above the Recon/AK/Voyager series (imho) due to much better fit and finish plus smoother (but still grippy) G-10.

I also try to buy U.S. made but I do have a few Taiwan knives now (mostly Spyderco) and they make a good knife but I do understand your position. My dad and brother in law are both Marines ;)

I used to only buy American and some Japan. As time went on I figured I was only depriving myself of the superior lock and blade sizes offered by no one else but the designer himself.

I love buying American and pride myself in always buying American made firearms and love having American made blades but I do believe in what others have said, your missing out if you discount anything foreign made. Anyways the Ultimate Hunter is from an American owned company, designed by two American's, and made from American Steel but assembled in Taiwan. This is good enough in my book which is why the Ultimate Hunter will be my next folder purchase.

Thats actually not a shabby looking knife.

Its been a long time since I thought a Gerber a nice product, though I am a big fan of older Gerber knives.

My interest in buying production Gerbers came to an abrupt halt with the Paraframe.

I hope the knife above is a better quality knife.....but then a swift kick in the nuts would be preferred to owning a Paraframe.

The ultimate hunter is a great knife. In that particular model CS runs the hardness of that steel higher than any other production company out there which I know of. Therefore there'll be most likely no American made knife with comparable properties.

Anyways, just like with the I-
Phone, salaries go to the American designers and most of the profit goes to the American company. They probably reinvest a good chunk and most of what's left over gets probably spent in America supporting American construction workers, American car manufacturers, American waste management, American Janitors smd so on who themselves spend their money again on American soil.
Only a fraction of the products final price would end up in China to pay for their factory time, raw materials and cheaper labor.
One could even see scenarios where producing in China allows CS, Apple and others to make more profit which can be spent in America than if they would produce here. However even in that case one might prefer them to make less money and to spend it on domestic knife manufacturing. But this then isn't really maximizing the overall profit for America anymore and kind of substituting a less profitable kind of work. Some might even call it socialistic in a way.

Again not saying that's the case here but shows that not everything is black and white and without the real numbers it's hard to make the right patriotic choice at times. And just to be sure buying Chinese made knives from a Chinese company is most likely not benefitting the USA if you don't count the profit the American salesman is doing and even that falls flat if one buys knives from Chinese homepages directly. Kind of the worst thing one could do.

Getting harder to find but the full size Benchmade Bone Collector with the AXIS lock has a similar blade.

Maybe an H&K 14715? They're a long way from being twins, but it's US made, price is right and you get Benchmade's warranty service.

Maybe I'm stating the obvious but have you considered either a Paramilitary2 or a BM Griptilian (Ritter preferably)?

I have a UH as well as the other two. The UH gets carried the least...
