Knives that are very different in person…

W&H T10 - too small and "dainty" , had to get rid of it for fear of breaking it

Case/Bose Millenium Trapper - I was expecting a ho-hum slippy , it totally blew me away , and turned me in a slipjoint fanatic.

Strider PT - I got it realizing it was small but this has become my work horse, it works like a much bigger knife ( and compliments my AR purfectly ).

Buck Cutback - impressed for such a cheap costing folder.

Spyderco Spin - It looks incredibly tiny beside a Delica, but this thing packs a big punch into it's tiny size (take the clip off and it would disappear inside a wallet -- if you have a George Costanza wallet you need not remove the clip) :)

I can easily get a 3 finger grip on it, as well as a 2 finger pistol grip, and once I put a fob on it, things will be even better. Also, the acid etch helps a lot for grip (I can flick it open with my thumb), and it weighs next to nothing! Blade is really useful, too (and sharp!).

Jerry Hossom's knives - I didn't really care for their look at first. I met Mr. Hossom at Blade show several years ago and had a chance to handle several of his knives. Once you handle his knives, you become a fan. They are wonderfully light and fast in the hand. And the build quality is beyond reproach.

Benchmade Ruckus I always thought it looked kind of plain
I ordered it anyway, and in all black by mistake. Upon handling it I found this thing feels really good in the hand and is so well built, smooth, reliable, and practical that is has become my favorite folder. At 4 and 1/4 inches it's illegal for me to carry where I live so I ordered a Mini Ruckus. I wish the blade stock on the mini would be as thick as the bigger Ruckus. hopefully overall it will have the same heft, ruggedness, and good feel in the hand despite the thinner blade. Will it ?

Sometimes the listed specs don't tell the whole story, sometimes the internet pics distort the true size.

The Spyderco Captain looks huge in pics but is surprisingly smaller in person.

I don't really like the feel of the Spyderco Scorpius...it looks cool but feels weird.

I really don't like the Spyderco Dodo, it is unbelieveably unnatural feeling in my hands...yet my Spyderco brethren rave about it.

Most of Eric Glesser's Designs seem to busy to me. Very artsy looking but not forgiving if you have an non-average hand size.

Wow, the Spyderco Perrin IS small! I had also assumed it was similar to the original Perrin with a shorter blade. Here is a pic that shows how small it is in the hand - (scroll down)http://cgi.ebay.com/Spyderco-Street...Blade-NIB_W0QQitemZ290102990673QQcmdZViewItem

On other pics they look taller in the hand

It depends a lot of the hand size

A few years ago, somebody on this forum (I'm sorry, I can't remember who) posted this picture of the Cuda Maxx:

And yet I was still surprised by how big it was when I got it. Not only that, but the build quality and fit & finish were really way above most production knives in that price range.
