Knives that would meet your ideal if they only changed a few details?

Buck charges under $40 for their 112 Slim Select on their website. They're excellent, very lightweight, every day carry, beater knives, that are made in USA, and carry a lifetime warranty. If they'd just offer a Magnacut blade version, I'd be glad to pay the extra $40-50.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, Buck.:)

I do think the #10 110 Stealth run in MC was close to perfect as far as traditionals go. Wish they made an Auto in regular production.

Yes my friend, I've drooled over this very knife for a while. It was on my list of "less is more" designs with that same simple rectangular handle shape that I obsess over.

In the end I don't think the blade was long enough, either that or it was too expensive for me/not easy to source.

Others or a similar style were the kizer yorkie, kizer feist, vosteed corgi (shown in op), mbk xlc and other variants like ecw, WE makes a tiny one I forget the name of... but in the end, they were all too small with the xlc being the exception but it's also too costly/hard to find :(

I'm destined to not have my ideal folder lol. Laconico is my only hope and last night I stumbled upon a thread selling the exact laconico "keen" I've been looking for at a good price so I claimed it gleefully... only to find out the thread is two months old and OP hasn't signed on in weeks haha šŸ˜†šŸ˜•

It's weird how companies make knives that everyone loves and just stop making them. MBK XLC's and Keen's would fly off the shelf but nah. Until then I wait for the vosteed corgi XL that I heard murmurs about from LuvThemKnives.

Swamp Rat RMD - Choiless option would make this the perfect belt knife IMO (Drop point would just be icing on the cake).
Emerson Commander in Cruwear at 62-63 HRC would be perfect.
Hinderer XM-20 , does not exist, it would be incredible though (3.75 inch blade of .12 stock choiless Cruwear.. one can dream).
I second the motion for a choil-less RMD.
Also, a choil-less esee 3 (regular version, yes i know about the 3hm)

I'm not ragging on them and it's easily in my top five. I plan to get more. So close to perfection.

Having said that, the flipper tab needs a very slight design modification on the RJK Cedar. It's under leveraged for the strong detent and wants to pinch your finger between the tab and the scales when you do bust it loose.

Luckily the tab is my least favorite deployment method on it and it's perfect with the thumb or finger. Also it seems to be working better as the knife breaks in.

I'm really fond of this simple rectangular handle shape and I'm surprised I don't see it more often. If I were a designer I would constantly be using different variants of it.

Then you should be looking for "Barlow" pattern knives. This simple pattern has a long story, and an association with the guys who take pride in the fact that their hard hats aren't shiny and new.

I'm especially fond of what's called the "long pull" version.

Addition:

A 4Max with Micarta slabs, 0.1875" steel liners, an extended pommel with a striking face, and a 0.25" thick blade of 52100 with the INFI heat treat process and some color of DLC (green micarta, black blade would probably have to be the way to go) blade coating would be The Perfect version.

:) Need the lock, need to stab, need a 3.5"ish blade.

Ooofdah, I think a LOT of Spyderco's knives would be better without choils or long ricassos. But that hasn't stopped me from accumulating a decent pile of Spyders.

Most knives available on the commercial market would be 2x as good if they came thinner behind the edge, right out of the box.

The Buck 301 would be spectacular if it came with snappier springs. Mine feels like the springs are made of softened butter.

My biggest gripe is that most knives I want would be perfect if they cost 50% less than they do now.

This could be a long, tedious thread for me...

My dark horse "almost" knives are a couple of Cold Steels.

A Marauder with the Black Bear Classic treatment. Ditch the injected molded handle for scales and do polished stainless for the subhilt and hilt.

A gussied up version of the XL Counterpoint. Give it G10 slabs like the Hold Out, and it would be a pretty handsome set up.
