Harpy works well too.:)
Bet my Civilian would work great as well.:D

" The tip is ground to an ultra-thin profile....Because of its distinctly specialized features it is not intended or designed for general utility or everyday use."

Straight from the Spyderco catalog.

I'm not sure I'd try to cut that heavy rope with a Civilian.

I am of the mindset that a straight knife does better than a folder, except riding in a pocket. Just my opinion, of course.

I would guess you need to cut the rope really, really fast. Lets say you are trawling and you get a submarine in the trawl, then your boat starts to go backwards and the front end goes up. You can see the picture, right?
When the panic starts spreading across the boat you need that line to be cut yesterday and then I would not trust my life on a thing from Cold Steel.
Either an axe, an explosive cable cutter preinstalled on the line or some really good knife with serrations (usually I dont like serrations). Maybe something like a 4" blade with full serrations and without a big choil. How about a LMF II fully serrated, or a Fallkniven F1 as it is.

Maybe one of those rescue knives works too, it depends on how thick the cable is. I would prefer something longer so I dont stand over the cable when cutting it so I get the end in my face. Hey, why not a khukuri, or a Fiskars bush knife. http://www.fiskars.com/pImages/SE/143786_13040.jpg

I like the Spyderco Endura with the fully serrated blade. It is the only fully serrated blade so far that I have liked. I also have the non-serrated version as well. Pretty good knife.

What about a Spyderco Atlantic Salt? It offers a long, wharncliffe-shaped blade of nearly rustproof H1 steel and can be had with full serrations. It is an excellent overall cutter, and would probably fit your needs. Such a knife is also an excellent everyday companion and is less specialized than some other offerings.

Okay, whether you're deanimating Orks, slaying Zombies, or cutting loose rogue submarines, only ONE tool is TRULY up to the task...a SMATCHET!!!:D

I carried a Spyderco Delica VG10 SE for 6 years in the USN as a Boatswains Mate. It worked fine on hemp lines and even better on the poly lines. Only once had to cut a line in an emergency. It was under tension and the Delica went though it like butter.

I'd guess a chopper like a GURKHA KUKRI would be very effective for what you're looking for. Especially the versions offered by Cold Steel.
