Howdy, all.
Once in a while, Ill just toss a knife in my back pocket, even if it has a clip.
Like my ZT 0200.
Sometimes, while its in my back pocket and Im going on about my day, i find that I accidentally hit the flipper and it opens just past the detent.
Never has it cut me or my clothes, and its not the knife's fault. But hey, it happened. Twice.
I cant be the only person this happens to......
Ever to you?

When pocketing a flipper knife, I always make sure that the blade "opens" to the seam. That prevents it from doing so. Never had one open in my pocket since I started doing that.

Never happened to me, but I have a SOG Vulcan, Benchmade 300, and a Kershaw Skyline, all of which are significantly smaller than an 0200. Maybe it's just the size of the knife that makes it fill up so much of your pocket and makes its flipper stick out?

Dude, I have an old Kershaw (scallion?) that has an auto flipper. Didn't lock the blade shut and one day I almost lost my right nut!

Stop wearing skinny jeans! Just kidding, I have had that happen before but never been cut. I keep my knives clipped on now.

I have a USA made Zing that is carried in my thigh pocket. It had a weak detent and would open once in a while. After it bit me one day, I strengthened the detent and ground the flipper down. I use the thumb studs only on it, so it was no big deal to lose the flipper.

You're never gonna catch me wearing skinny jeans! Definitely not my style. Maybe this "phenomenon" is more common than I thought.

I'd suggest you don't put your 350 open in your pocket anymore! ;)

Seriously, I'm trying to figure how you pulled that off. If it opened in your pocket towards the seam, how did you manage to get your finger between the handle and the seam sufficiently to contact the blade? Didn't you know which side of the handle your finger was on when you reached into your pocket?

The only knives this has ever happened to me with was an Emerson Gentleman Jim and the CQC-7. Both times it was my fault for not pulling the knife out of the pocket to prevent waving.

Went skiing today with my Buck Vantage in my ski pants pocket. Came in handy, needed the knife to cut some stubborn zip ties. But I had the thought, "What if it flips open while I'm skiin' and then I fall and stab myself!?!?"

This is the kind of thread that gives me nightmares.

But realistically, I've never had a close call when it's been in my pocket. But it has flipped open part-way when I've been carrying it in my hand.

I'm gonna need a Xanax!

Tip up for flippers. Noobs. :D

Had a CRKT with the stupid, idiotic, moronic, tard-tastic, dangerous, four letter word, worthless dual flippers pop open on me once. I'm sure if I was less hairy I'd have a visible scar. Who ever decided on dual flippers can go suck a fat hairy...... egg.

The action of the knife was strong enough to slide the clip over and the knife was open about 60 degrees.

I had a Darrel Ralph mini max with the double guard flipper just like his mad max and I reached in my pocket to use the knife and it had came open and got me pretty good, needless to say I was not to happy and ended up trading it at a knife show for a non flipper and it took me a long time before I bought another flipper, now it's all I carry but I have one made right with a nice strong detent made by Todd Begg.

Tip up against the seam of my pocket. Never had a problem with any knife in that configuration.
