Hello guys,

Yesterday i was on my way to work on bus crowded of people, suddenly we started to smell something burning, was a tire or plastic but the smoke started to filter from below the bus, hopefully the bus stops 20 mtrs ahead so everybody starts to leave the bus... i always carry a Delica, Military or a SOG Aegis for my EDC my spyderco ladybug and a fenix LD01 in my keychains but when the smoke started to go out below the bus almost everybody was affraid nobody wants to die fried. I want a good folder with a glass breaker i know a few options and don't like any of them. please give me more options besides these ones.

Spyderco Assist
Blackhawk CQD
Victorinox Rescue Tool
Microtechs (too expensives)

Thanks to all

I think the Spyderco Rescue has a glass breaker.

The upcoming ESEE/DPX Hest folder will have one.

Theres also a little tool called I think Rescu-Me, which as a glass breaker and belt cutter, and is supposodly small enough to go on a keychain.

How about a Res Q Me added onto your keychain? Or one of the aluminum tactical pens? An all steel multi-tool? The more options the better, no? I'd rather have two or three things on me than everything tied to one knife.

omfg ESEE DPx H•E•S•T looks so cool!!! when will be available?

You can also use a small multi-tool or get one of the aluminum pen's for $20 - serve a few different uses and work just as well.

I didn't see Sufler already beat me to these suggestions - so they are a +1

if you want a HEST folder make haste and find a dealer taking preorders. if you dont find one expect to wait for the next run, which is tentatively scheduled for feb 2011.

I never leave the house without a Benchmade Houdini Pro. A glass breaker, a seat belt cutter, and clips on nicely to boot.

One problem with using a glass breaker on a knife is a lot of stuff can go wrong, some of them can even send you to the hospital, not that that option is comparable to burning up in a bus fire. Another option (cheaper too) is a spring loaded or automatic center punch like this

can be found all over the net for less than $5 and will take out a window without fear of slashing your hand or knocking your knife out of your hand sorry for the thread drift but seemed like a good ideal.

Any solid object with a metal butt will do just fine for breaking car glass. Many steel-lined folders will suffice.

Hey, I found out about this really cool glass breaker you might be interested in. It's a super advanced design and really hard to find, but it's unbeatable in performance:

Hi,

Bus windows are supposed to be able to be popped open as emergency exits. Either a latch or with your hand/foot. Glass breakers aren't needed.

If you really think you need a glass breaker, either get a ResQme tool or use what Fire/Rescue/EMS and stereo thieves every where use - the automatic center punch that Hunter S. Thompson posted. It's cheap and will work better than most anything else you can get.

Caution: Many automotive manufacturer's are switching to safety glass, (same a windshields), from tempered glass in the side windows. These WILL NOT shatter as they have plastic films laminated into them.
