Knives with Old World Character

As I get older, I find my tastes keep changing. I have a drawer full of modern tactical knives. But lately I've been wanting to carry a knife with more old world character. Not a traditional slip joint, older then that. Maybe something oriental? To give you an idea, here are two knives that I've found that have the feel that I'm after. Anything else with a similar style for under $100?

How about the Boker Haddok? Nail nick instead of thumb stud, traditional sheepsfoot shape, etc...

Don't know about any oriental lookin knives, but the Buck 110 has been probably the most trusted folder of all time

Here's my Boker Haddock:

Nothing reeks of 'old world charm' like a Ti framelock, CNC-ed G10 scale, and Bohler N690 blade steel. Well, it does have a nail nick... and a warped Wharncliffe style blade...

I'd think a true Damascus fixed blade, like the kind of crude Bear MGC bowie below is a decent example.

The Buck 110 is a modern classic. A Buck Custom Shop Teardrop Damascus 110 has a flair of antiquity about it.

I'm tired...

As several have mentioned, I'd go with one of the old style European regional folders.

Something like these "Corsican" folders are as Old World as you are going to get.

Note that they do not even have the tang present in many friction folders to keep them from folding. But, since one only cuts "down" with an folder and doesn't stab with it, folders of this type work just fine and have for centuries.

Thanks for the responses, I'll look into those. The Corsican is probably the closest to what I'm looking for. I just want a knife that it is unusual, beautiful, simple, and different from the modern american style knives I usually carry. Something with loads of style and good craftsmanship.

I agree 100% with the desire to go from tactical to classical. Don't get me wrong, I like modern folders with all their features and modern materials, but lately I've found myself quite bored with them. I feel myself more drawn to genuine antique old-school folders with old-school locks, carbon steel blades, and handles made of stag, bone, horn, tortise shell, etc.

The most "classical" folder I have is only my 31 year old Buck 110. It's no antique, but I currently find myself drawn to it over all my other folders.

I think that you may enjoy a Japanese Carpenter's knife they're a very cool traditional asian folder with a very distinctive look and simple operation.

I like this one alot. Looks like they have a stag version too. Any idea on quality?

No idea whatsoever, haha, both versions are around $30 and I'm planning on getting one before too long, but I have no experience with CAS Hanwei
