This is a simple request. I ask anyone that knows knives with a wave feature to list those and if possible to post picture of his/her personal wave knife. Waved knives also wellcome (self made or made by others).

I plan to wave my paramilitary 2 so any examples are wellcome.

I was given a CS ak47 that has that type of function. I've handled a few that have a licensed wave like the kershaw emersons and the southern grind bad monkey. The kershaws are nice for the money ($30-40) and the bad monkey has great fit and finish, but at a much higher price tag.

I haven't modified any of my own knives or handled any that were done.

Every folder I've owned.

The three I've done so far:

And if you don't know/want to grind the blade or worry about ruining the steel, you can always use the zip-tie mod...

(Rajah II and III as well as the Ti-Lite series, and the Talwar series, all feature a thumb plate similar to Emerson's wave)

If properly done, deployment is almost 100% sure and reliable. It works for me!

Does it have to have a wave or can it be a knife that opens just like a waved knife but with a thumbstud or ramp? As in opens when you draw it but not technically waved.

I was thinking how strange it is the other day that Spyderco makes a waved Delica but not a waved Paramilitary

It works as wave and as thumb disc. IMO the best wave ever exist because it works and not conspicuous.

The mods posted are interesting to me... Dremel? Kinda wondering how hard it would be to do that to a couple knives that I have since I don't own any waved production knives.

This has no wave or ramp. But the thumbstuds are genius. They are long enough to work just as well as a wave and their stepped design is simply perfect. The ridges are sharp enough to grab the edge of your pocket but its not so aggressive as to be uncomfortable. It odd how perfectly finished they are as your thumb hits it and you almost feel as if your thumb is stuck to the stud yet its never uncomfortable. I honestly think they made the knife with the intention of being able to be opened on the draw but cant advertise it as such with so much litigation going on in knives these days. This is a great option for someone who likes the way a waved knive works yet hates the way they look.

To do it is easy. to do it cleanly? not so easy. I find a good way to maintain control is to mount the dremel tool in a piece of ply wood and use the ply wood as a plane to keep the blade perfectly perpendicular to the bit to keep it all even.

Yes, Dremel. The way I've done it is to put the knife blade in a vice and freehand the wave cutout. I tend to like the less conspicuous waves (just enough cut out to catch the pocket but not ruin the blade profile), but you can see on the ganzo blades I leveled off the top edge.

I use a belt grinder and Dremel with fiber cutoff wheel.
