Knives you could never part with

I actually have several customs that I would never like to part with. Especially 3 of them come to mind, my first custom, a designed by me blade built by Ron Gaston, a matched pair built by Jay Fisher, also designed by me, and a custom folder I bought recently from a bladesmith discovered here on BF, Eliot Maldonado.

Buck 105 I bought in 1960. First serious fixed blade. My Dad's stag 110. Yeah, they could be replaced, but it wouldn't be the same.

I try not to get too attached to any of my knives, that being said there are three I would have a really hard time parting with.

1. Tobin Smith Custom
2. Spyderco Techno
3. My customized Spyderco Native 5

Well gifts from my friends are given to me knowing I may trade them away, but gifts from family are sacred. Therefore the following knives shall never leave my collection:
1970 Case Red Bone Toothpick from my Grandpa when I was 10 (1979).
1980's Kabar that I carried during my enlistment (88-96).
1990's Western W77 Dagger that my then girlfriend (now wife) gave me as a Christmas present.
1980's Schrade 51OT that my Father-n-law/best friend gave me about a year before he passed away.
1980's Western W49 Bowie that was also my Father-n-law's, but was given to me by my wife and in-laws after his passing.
Santa Fe Stoneworks Dino bone Small lock back that my daughters gave to me as birthday present.
Benchmade 750-101 Pinnacle Gold Class that my Bro-n-law gave me as a Christmas present.

None of the other 200+ knives I own will touch the value I feel for these knives.

Three come to mind:

My father's 'Kangaroo' set from his time in the Boy Scouts in England:

My flipper from Australian maker Zac Cheong. Only fourteen of these ever made and each is different (bottom knife - needs a better pic):

And my ZT 550 just because I like them so much:

Oh and my customised Fallkniven S1 and F1 with curly mulga scales (so I guess that's a bit more than three):

Case XX knife my Grandfather gave to me in the 70's
My Zt 0566 ( I love this knife!)
Xm-18 Wharncliffe

I have a hard time getting rid of any of my knives, which is weird because I can throw out anything else. But I have my grandfather's and wife grandfather's knives and I would never get rid of them, they were users anyway so the real value is no where near sentimental value. My wife and kids gave me a buck vantage for Christmas and I will never get rid of that or any other knife I was given as a gift.

I also am not fortunate enough to have been given or handed down any knives.

My current edc is a grayman dlc Dua that means the world to me. I went through a lot and sacrificed a lot for it. It literally has not left my pocket or been out of reach since I got it. I could honestly say it would take a lot to get me to part with it, but I can't say it's irreplaceable.

Any one of three crkt m16 knives. My first decent knives. Gifts from my wife. Without them I never would have ventured into the world of knife collecting nor would I have stumbled across this site. So they stay because of the gift, and also to remind me of where my hobby started versus where it is today.

Also a custom designed James Terrio chefs knife I had made for my me and the wife's anniversary. Sentimental value and everyday use is hard to beat.

Every Busse and Kin I own or will ever own.

All the rest is cannon fodder for me, except one, my Mantis Pit Boss from 2011, best damn user folder I have ever seen.

Ya that's right I said Mantis.

I would agree with post #28 above. Any knife that was gifted to me. If someone thought enough about me to give me a knife, I value it enough to keep and use it. Does not matter what it is, where it was made, or quality. I'm just crazy like that I guess.

Knives I could never part with..?? That would be 99% of my Knives.** DUHHHHH..............................

Haha me too, I only have a few very sentimental knives but I wouldnt want to part with any of them.

Cannot imagine getting rid of any that I own but for sure would not part with:

1. A Case Sodbuster Jr. my parents got me when I was a kid. In addition to the knife, I still have the box and the paper that came with it telling you how to care for the knife. I recently sharpened that knife on my Wicked Edge so it was kind of like old school meets new school.

2. A William Henry Gentac my wife got me. It was my first really high quality blade and kindled my interest in knives again.

3. My first knife. I true beater my grandpa gave me. I carried that knife everywhere even with the tip of one blade missing.

I would have to say my;
Case Trapperlock from my farther
Case Black G-10 Stockman from my mother
Case Mako that belonged to my grandfarther, then my farther & finally me
CRKT Hissatsu Folder
Benchmade 550 Grip
Zero Tolerance 0350

Thanks Rev. The Buck Vantage my wife got me will always stay with me. She does not know much about knives or showed any interest in them, but she knew I like flippers and knows I like American made blades. So she went to bass pro and got me this for Christmas, I was pretty stoked.

Sorry crappy cell pic.

:thumbup:to wolf-man. Yah....if I could part with them, they wouldn't be in my collection.
