Kind of like that dangerous alpha chick in high school you initially stayed away from but she ends up stealing your heart anyway. 80% chaos, 20% order, total babe. We can talk about particular knives, knife archetypes, brands, lock types, blade grinds, deployment styles, steels, and anything else that “seduced” you over time. Like with any other hobby, it can be satisfying when your tastes regarding knives evolve over time.

I’ll start us off. Before, I didn’t really care much about liner locks, but the Spyderco Resilience really impressed me. Made me consider getting a Spydie Millie in the future.

Also, I didn’t really care about small fixed blades before or the larger folders. Now I’ve got one of the former and two of the latter. Still love the sweet spot medium sized knives though.

Let’s keep it casual and let’s have fun.

When I first became aware of Spyderco, I really didn’t like the aesthetics of that big ol’ hole. Now I’ve got a Manix 2 lightweight, a Lil’Native, a Para 3, a Tenacious, and a camo Military that arrived a few days ago.

The hole’s a stroke of genius. As long as you don’t get too crazy, the issue of it being a stress riser shouldn’t be too much of a problem.

The small inkosi for me
The first time I handle it I didn’t get it and though to return it
The grip was completely unnatural for me
I kept it and really don’t regret it
I have got used to the handle and it is now my basic edc and if I can only keep one knife, it will be this one

i hated how the pm2 looked in all the internet pictures.

as soon as i held one it instantly became my favorite knife and ill never not have one now.

I could not agree more. The first time I saw spyderco knives all I thought was gas station/tacticool knives. My brother in law gave me a manix and now I love to see what spyderco comes up with. Not all their designs are my "cup of tea" but I appreciate them and they are on of my favorite knife companys.

For one ..... coffee. I couldn’t stand the smell. Then in Ft. Knox we got a coffee pot that installed in the turret of the tank. My gunner made coffee every time we stopped the tank. Good coffee! Not the Army coffee! Needless to say.....I can’t live without it now!!

Spyderco knives. I resisted for years, not understanding why they can't seem to make products in straight lines. But eventually caved in and just got a PM2 to see what's all the fuss about them, today I own more than dozen of them and the rest was history.

OP, i kindly suggest you change "Stuff" to "knives" in your thread before a mod reroutes it to misc discussion --- now to answer, if you actually mean stuff as in knives, ill have to say the entirety of benchmade, the very first benchmade knife i bought was from a local camping store, i believe it was a mini grip, cost 90 dollars back then, the thing literally fell apart in my pocket, i felt something poking me, i pulled out a knife blank, washers, scales.. i stayed away from anything benchmade for about 6 years, now, i have a turret, presidio, afo2, aileron and a few others

Medford 187 RMP for me. It's just too thick, both the handle and the blade, and it's heavier than I'd prefer. The owner of the company is spastic. The knife came with a letter warning it would self-destruct if I tried to take it apart or oil it in any way.

Still, I ended up growing to sort of love it. The ergonomics are great for me and the knife is absolutely smooth and tight in operation, very CREWK*-like in feeling of quality, albeit with an altogether different design aesthetic, of course.

Medfords. Now, I didnt hate them. I just never really even gave them a close look. But, I kept getting suggestions to try one..
I'm glad I did. They are big and heavy sure. But, they also are very sharp and cut very well too. And, they are freeakin gorgeous and built like a brick chit house to boot lol.........

Running. Hated it as a kid to a young adult. But something clicked at 40 and I've been running fool since.

+1 on Cold Steel.
Initially didn’t care for Lynn Thompson’s schtick or the videos/adds, however over time I’ve come to see him and his company as one of the more... I want to say genuine knife companies. His ethic seems to be: “I love knives - especially fighting blades - and I think good people from all economic backgrounds should get to play with them too.”
He reminds me of Charlie Mike actually (RIP). Says exactly what’s on his mind. Total boss. :)

Slipjoints. I liked their general designs, but hated the mechanism and nailnicks. I thought it is boring, outdated, primitive and unsafe. Also because of almost no law restrictions, I never had a reason to check them.
One day when I was in a store I tried one that was on display, just to kill some queue time. I liked it enough to buy it and switched mostly to slipjoints after that.
