knives you HAVE to own?

I'm buying a Carillo Tripwire II in the next month or so. With orange G-10 scale since I'm a fireman and it has to fit the rescue theme. I've been salivating over Dwaine's work for way too long. Pulling the trigger and not looking back. Edwood, you are right about Peter R's work. I see something in the future coming from him and I dont really know who he is, I followed the Alphahunter Framelock thread with great anticipation and It just keeps coming, his fixed blades are phenomenal from what I've seen.

I just need a knife, I'd prefer it be a nice(IMO) knife. If I had to pick 1 knife out of all of mine it would probably be my current Recon 1 tanto. Big/tough enough for anything I'm gonna throw at my pocket knife. I however carried a S&W HRT for years with no issues and beat the crap out of that knife so it's on my list of good knives too.

And I know most people don't really like either of those for names for knives which is a good example of how good is Subjective

Kershaw Skyline <---Insane value at $35.
Benchmade Griptillian/Mini-Griptillian <---Benchmark EDC.
CRK Sebenza <---It's a Sebenza, what more needs to be said. Perfect tolerances, materials, craftsmanship, etc.
Spyderco Delica/Endura <--- More EDC classics.
KABAR USMC <--- A simple, robust design that's endured for decades.

A few months ago a friend bought and told me that an ipad2 is a must have. Now he hardly carries it out of the house.

I can only speak for myself here. Your question is a good one, but I have found that although I do benefit from others input, sometimes what I like doesn't match up with other peoples ideas.
Folders I Like a lot:
BM 710 - not too bulky but a well made knife that is durable
Kershaw Whirlwind - fast opening, light weight
ZT 0200 - a real Beast of knife when you want something ready for serious use
BM 581 or 580 - feels good in my hand, and opens extremely fast
CRKT Crawford KasperProfessional- the bulky feel (I like that), and the appearance of it

It does my head in when people pick faults with the question in the thread. Its only a bit of fun for heavens sake. Just add a knife that you really like or dont post. Simples.
Anyway I think everyone MUST have a ZT 3__? whichever tickles your fancy the most. For me 301.

Any knife that you see and handle and you can not stop smiling. Whatever that is, buy it!

Excellent advice! That is why I say some people may not agree with me but my personal faces are still my faces :)

Wow really good responses! About the "well everyone is different" stuff I know that everyone has different tastes but i was just wondering what you consider a have to have knife because of build quality or history or for whatever reason

Yes, those. And sometimes there is just a friendly voice calling to you. Life is short, if you can afford to buy something that makes you happy once in a while, why not? I do not try and justify to others what I like because they do not need to like it or understand why I do in order for me to be happy.

The funny thing is, I can usually find a few people around here that do agree somewhat with my tastes;)

That is just when you see so many knives listed as must have - which yourself did not ever even considered worth having. You may get a bit defensive. ;)

But this particular question is OK no issue. I hope you have no problems with the answer - "there are no such knives". It is still a valid answer to the question, right?

Or you would insist that there must be at least one must have knife? :D
