Knives you know are not that practical but you love them anyway

Never camped and never will but this one just grabbed me.

Here are three Benchmades that were on my list for quite a while that I acquired one-by-one, though two of them came in separate deals very close together. I have this thing for vintage or old-school BMKs and these go back 18 years or so. These are the DarkStar, Mini-DarkStar, and Mini-BlueStar--the last one was designated August 2000 Knife of the Month, though by whom I have no idea.

These have flimsy liner-locks and are tip-down carry only. They also have sort of silly dagger-style blades with false edges at the forward spine, leaving the primary grinds way less than optimally acute. They're not great cutters, but their ATS blades take wicked keen edges--all the more reason to be wary of their less-than-robust locks.

Still, there's something I find attractive in their anodized liners showing through the cut-outs in the G10 scales and will stick one of the DarkStars in my pocket every once in a while. I still keep and eye out and would grab up a full-size, plain-edge BlueStar if I found one at a reasonable price.
