Knives you like, but theoreticly shouldn't

I don't like the feel of aluminum grips either, and will not own a MT. Perhaps they are good knives; I'll never know. :)
I know that good folks like them...and that's fine.

My Kershaw JunkYardDog 2.2 is the bum of the litter, but it surely works well when I have rough work to tackle. The clip looks like heck, but once you get past that, it does do the job and holds its edge.

The JYD is another one I wish I had a backup or two of... as it is it's one of the knives I can't bring myself to use. Such a shame.

I'm sorry that happened man, but I am glad it wasn't worse. Very sorry one of the officers thought it was okay to shout obscenities at you like that. Regardless of their position, I don't think it's okay to be that way to a "perp" (not that you were) that is being cooperative and polite.

i got into an altercation on the sidewalk after leaving one of the bars while waiting for a cab where some guy got into my face and was threatening... long story short, he took a swing but i ended up coming up on top and almost taking it too far, but luckily cooler heads prevailed and i turned to walk away instead of hitting the gentleman again once he went down and fetal. which was lucky for me because a police man was heading right for me when i turned and i found myself in handcuffs immedately and on the receiving end of some serious questions and a search.. in which one of the policemen immediately zeroed in on my knife, hollering "he's got a weapon" which of course became the main target of the questioning from that point out. when he asked me about it, and i quote "why do you have a knife... and why is it pink?" i played the naive canadian and told him every man carries a knife as a tool and i was sorry that i was unaware of the laws, and that the knife was a gift from my mother who was a breast cancer survivor and i always kept it on me as a reminder (slight fabrication.. she is, but i bought the knife so it would be easy to find when i dropped it in the woods). He told me that things were different around here and that in the big city there are people who would possibly use this agains me as a weapon... to which i appeared shocked (as a canadian) that it could even be a possiblity and he assured me that there are bad people in the world and i shold be more careful. luckily again the other guy was being very beligerent and hollering obscenities at me while i was in handcuffs while i remained respectful and the police officer ended up seeing that i was only defending myself and that since i hadn't used the knife i obviously wasnt trying to be a criminal. this led to the other guy in handcuffs for attacking me and the police telling me the best place to get breakfast at 4:00am.

Spyderco Vallotton, I think the only reason that it has been in my pocket most of the time since the day I got it is how ergonomic it is and how much I like the aesthetics. As a user, my Manix 2 lightweight undoubtedly would be a more practical choice.

rusty was saying that the other guy(the guy from the bar) was shouting obscenities at him, not the officer.

I remember having one of the first JYD's years back. And I also remember disliking the big eye catching shiny clip. Maybe they never changed it...?

Not sure if this is what you are after but..
My Mora Clipper in army green and black. It's my beater/abusive use knife for years and years. Cost me about under 8 euros back then. I do use all my knives and without hesitation, but when I need "cutting" that "destroys" the edge, I use this one. Then I restore it back with moderate ease. I have come to the conclusion that I should do same thing with any knife, because they can do it too.
So why do I like it? It's nothing special. It's shallow mass produced plasticy knife.. but it just damn does the job! It has lousy sheath, but I added extra retention strap from paracord and cord lock. When I need some "don't mind if I lose it" knife that doesn't weight anything, I choose it.

It's just so damn good knife!

Funny how those Mora's seem to instill great appreciation, or great disdain. I enjoy them immensely myself, and seeing that you are a Fin, I was wondering were you are with the Fiskars axes, which I believe are made in Finland ? I have my fancy Swedish axes, and they are nice, but I have recently been using the Fiskars X7 and X25. I toss them in the car trunk and they do good things for me.

Ah, my mistake there. Thanks for clarifying.

Believe it or not the Cold Steel G.I. Tanto is mine. It is ugly....heavy...and cheap, but it sure does get the job done.

They are good I guess. Personally I feel like the plastic shaft flexes too much and I can't get as effective chops with it as I can with wooden shafted ones. I don't know if that makes any sense.. But nevertheless, I get better efficiency with wooden shaft.

yep, exactly... thanks Rostislav for clearing that one up in my absence. sorry Red, i'd hate for anyone to have gotten the wrong idea on that one. the kansas city police were actually super professional in this one and hats off to them for how they handled it. they actually took the time to find out what had happened rather than just assume i was the bad guy because i bloodied some guy's nose, and one better, they actually gave me directions to their favorite restaurants in the area... even after all that.

P.S. Caveat: i have absolutely no idea if the military id helped :)
