Knives you miss

The knives my mother stole from me when she divorced my dad, and gave to my step brother before she married his dad. (ditto everything else of mine that she took and gave to that rotten son of a (proper name for a female dog) my first .22 rifle, the .410 single barrel shotgun I inherited from my paternal grandfather, my bicycle, 99% of my toys (I was 10 at the time) ... Yes. My mother was a (proper name for a female dog).
More recently, I miss the knives at home in Florida, while I am at home in Idaho. (DaRn TSA and no checked bags on that trip.) :(

I've sold 97 knives to date, and the only ones I wish I still had (but would still probably be gone since I'm broke) are:

1) Small Sebenza in Micarta
2) Cold Steel 4 Max
3) Manix 2 Cruwear in CF
4) PM2 Cruwear

Hello,

I am curious to know if you miss some knives, because you regret having sold them or because you didn’t pull the trigger on one before it has been discontinued

For me it is the ZT0630cf
I am a fan of the manual / washer knives from ZT
The 0550 was fine, but I like the 0630ORBLK I have but how stupid u was not to take one 0630cf before it was discountinued ;)

I deeply miss my zt 0620 which was lost. I gotta get a replacement for that knife. I hope ZT does more collabs with Emerson in the future. I will get a replacement 0620 one of these days.

One knife that I really miss that I lost was my Kershaw Ripcord. Totally a unique knife. It was a manual otf where taking it out of the sheath causes the blade to extend and putting it back in the sheath retracted the blade.

Les george VECP. In XHP stainless, and FDE ceracoated blade. Loved the detent of it opened up with a good snap. Not toohard not to easy, just right.

Great heat treat on the steel.
Sold it to fund a grail.
Now i wish i had it. (But im still keeping my grail knife lol).

A Randall model 15. Bought it when I was stationed at China Lake. Carried it all the rest of my enlistment. Came home to michigan, met a girl, went to Lansing to meet her family, some low life broke into my truck and took it. Keep telling myself I will buy another, just hasn't happened yet.

I don t have any knives that are missed. Why? I don t sell knives. Just store them away if I don t use them.
Occasionally I get one from storage and start to use it. Makes me glad I kept it.

I keep all of my knives that I buy for my personal collection, but the only one I don’t have anymore is my CRKT Ruger 2 Stage because I lost it at work. Decent knife. So yeah, I miss it.

Damn that sucks, and pretty hard to imagine.

Here I am talking about some probably junk knife I gave to my friend when I was a kid, and you had a bunch of sentimental things taken from you and given to another kid in the middle of a thing like that.

Well form your posts here you seem to have turned out just fine, and it didn't keep you from loving knives so it definitely could've been worse.

To date, I have sold very few of the knives I have purchased.

The one that I miss the most is the Busse DSSF, although the knife went to a great home, I miss having the knife.

I have proven to be a hoarder, but I am working on changing that aspect of my personality.

I have realized that as a hunter and gatherer sometimes I must compromise one role to satisfy the other. So, while I wish I still had every knife I've ever sold doing so allowed me to get others with the generated funds or alleviated feelings of guilt. The ones I miss the most are the 3" XM18 and the CQC7A.

I like this.

Gradually I have learned it is a poor idea to sell knives, which almost always leads to some major financial loss and more importantly regrets (9 out of 10 times).

I have (or had) a Vic Locksmith model that I misplaced or lost maybe 5 years ago. It helped me finish a job once and it simply disappeared. Wish I still had it available. It is too thick for me to carry, which is probably why it got lost/misplaced.

Overall, I haven't sold any knives; given a few away. But, sold > No. Been thinking about changing that with some of the more expensive knives that I have owned for years and have no interest in using them or even handling them for the most part. I don't have many regrets, but I understand the premise if there is a regular buy-sell aspect to your hobby.

I did the buy-sell thing with firearms for about 10 years when I was actively attending gun shows. For the most part, it was a loosing proposition but I still had fun. I don't really regret my decisions at that time.

Small Star and Stripes Small Sebenza
I am constantly scouring the exchanges hoping to re-unit

I've has the opportunity to own so many fantastic knives over the last 8 years. The two that come to mind at the moment are the Spyderco Gayle Bradley 1, and the Spyderco Navaja. I also missed the ZT 0392 (Stonewashed with blue hardware) enough that I repurchased it. With more money and more pockets, I would never let anything go. C'est la vie :(

So here's the other side of the coin--a knife I very much would have missed that didn't sell. I was in the middle of a knife-buying binge last January and decided to get rid of a drawer queen or two to soften the financial impact. I reluctantly put my custom-scaled Shirogorov Tabargan on the block at the high end of its price range. I found myself not disappointed at the lack of response and the day before it could be re-listed withdrew it from sale--just couldn't stand it anymore.

The next day, a gentleman wrote offering to purchase should I change my mind. We've become friendly, have written back and forth quite a bit as he sought another, and I'm just so relieved to still have my beautiful knife.

The one that didn't get away...

..I mean, a boy's gotta have a few drawer queens, no?
