Knives you waited on...

I'd say most folks have been in this situation. You see a knife that you're pretty sure will float your boat, but you wait and wait to get it. You probably even get a dozen knives in between that you're half as interested in. But then you get the 'waiter', and can only think "why did I wait so long to pick this up?!"

What blades were like that for you?

Mine was probably the M2K. I waited and waited, knowing I'd probably break down one day but just not right now. And now it's one of my top blades, amongst tons of customs. Just cuts like a mother and keeps chuggin.

I've got a few waiter's that are still waiting. Rat Izula (getting close), Fallkniven F1, BK-9, Kellem pukko. I want them, but have been pulling the trigger on customs pretty much exclusively over the last year.

BRKT Aurora... I saw ALL the people that liked them got it in my hand and said - where the hell have you been all my life?

Opposite was the Muskratman Bushcrafter - just didn't suit me. Great handle - didn't like the blade.

Believe it or not mind is a Soddie and Soddie Jr. I never gave them the respect they deserve. I didn't ever buy one because I figured I'd stumble upon one at some point so I didn't buy one for a while.

Well - I have both now and can't believe I waited so long to get them. Great knives at an amazing price! (Case)

Definitely. It doesn't happen as much anymore, but early on in my knife questing, my tastes would change pretty quickly.

i also waited a while for a farmer. i just didnt understand what was so great about it, but now i do.

i also waited a while before buying my first custom. needless to say, i am pretty happy with that too.

I waited 5 years wanting a Beck WSK. Then he stopped making them then my tastes changed (more common sense) So I didnt wind up with one. And that Tops made one looks like garbage. Id still like to have a Beck version just for kicks , but thats only if I were rich.

Funny how things change. Back when I found this forum, the WSK was all the rage. As well as all the thick super indestructable blades, Busse, Becker, Reeves, Khukris. It seemed bigger was better.

Now if you mention any of those blades for outdoor use, you dang near get harried out of W&SS under cover of night to avoid the flaming:D

Still waiting for the Ritter RSK Mk5.:p

The Mora 780 is probably the one that I waited to pull the trigger on and later wished I had done it sooner.

Didn't want to spend the money for a sebenza without actually seeing the knife first. Not many places in NY where you can see and handle one. Online purchase for that much didn't appeal to me. But then .... I saw this baby at the NY Custom Knife Show and the wait was over.

for me it was a fallkniven F1. i got one and its the best fixed blade i have. its not pretty but its useful, sharp, and rock solid. i love it.

the wait now is a sebenza 21. i just ordered one last week. its a wait time of about 4 weeks for them to make it in their next production run. i will see if the wait was worth it.

any thoughts on sebenza vs. fallkniven PXL?

Oops, should have been more specific, I thought posting it in the WSS forum would be clear enough. I was asking which woods/wilderness knives that woods/wilderness folks waited on, hence asking the question in the Wilderness subforum. Sometimes the first duty of intelligent men...

Buck 119; old design, tough & reliable. My grandmother let me buy one as a kid, and I later gave it to my uncle. Been missing it & wanting one...bought dozens since, then one day I finally got another one (a 100th Anniv. Commem.) My first thought was exactly what the OP said: "Why did I wait this long?"

thx - cpr

i spent a few years looking at the 119 in the walmart sporting goods section, wanting one but passing on the opportunity worrying that i had waited so long just to buy it and find out i hated it. needless to say it was everything i wanted and more-and the wait made it even better:)

spyderco military.

always liked the look and design. read thread upon thread of its attributes, but kept putting it off.

bought a d2 millie last year, my first contemporary spydie. haven't looked back, and about 20 spydercos later, im hooked.

Spooky, you're in General :o:D

But i think for me it was Moras (510 or Clipper so far, have yet to pick up M2K). I always said, they're cheap, I'll pick one up later. When I finally pulled the trigger on getting a couple, I thought "Man, these thin scandis are great!" :) I guess it's not so much I anticipated liking it and waited to get it, but instead I put off buying it because i didn't think I'd like em that much. I have a Koster bushcrafter coming that I've been waiting for that might be one of those "why did I wait" knives.
