For me, it was certainly the BK9 and BK7. I've had a Ranger RD9 forever and just never really thought I'd like another big chopper more than that one. So, I never bothered to spend the money on a new one. I loved the canvas micarta slabs on my RD9 and couldn't imagine the plastic slabs on the BK's to be anywhere near as wonderful. Even though I knew my Ranger was the better choice, I couldn't help but want the BK's. Something about them just kept calling me. Finally, I broke down and bought a BK9 when Ka-Bar started putting them out to dealers. How the hell did I ever get along without this knife? I love it. Since then, I've also added a Camillas BK7 to the mix. Both are phenominal knives. They chop like crazy and are still fine for smaller work, especially the BK7. The handles are wonderful. I greatly prefer them over the Ranger slabs. They just sit in your hand perfect. You get killer purchase on the handle. It isn't going anywhere. I still love my Ranger. It's a great knife and still gets plenty of work. I also love, despite the conflict we all are aware of, the Ontario RTAK-II. That is by far the best chopper I have ever had. It's not a fine work knife by any means. If you want to do some precision cutting, you better grab something else, but if you're lopping off zombie heads or just clearing some small trees around, moving through thick vines and kudzu, or any other chopper/machete job, that blade is the king as far as I'm concerned.
