Has this ever happened to you? I finally decided to get an OTF auto, and decided on a Microtech Ultratech Tanto, but now it looks like there are ZERO places in this country with one in stock. It's infuriating.

I spend a month talking myself into spending 250 on a knife, then i can't get anyone to take my money

Be patient - it will show up eventually. And advertise on your sig block, and the Want to Buy forum. BTW, love the Heinlein signature block.

Thank you sir :)

I am trying this whole "patience" thing, but instant gratification is much more fun

Once you have been collecting for a while your wants can become very specific and hard to find. For example, I am working on a small sebenza annual collection. Some years are darn near impossible to find!

I've looked at hundreds of OTF knives by dozens of companies, and there is exactly ONE model that i'm interested in purchasing, just one... and of course, I can't find it.

A year ago I really wanted the 2012 Gold Class mini-Presidio w/damascus blade and CF scales. I called Benchmade, and then a few authorized dealers. No luck. Sold out. Would have been the most expensive knife I had ever bought (at that time). Oh well.

So the other day I stumbled across it on Arizona Custom Knives while browsing some knife porn. And now, a full year later, it is on the way.

Keep searching. And good luck.

Spyderco Bob Lum tanto folder with the black g10 handles.

Been looking for one for the past couple years or so...

If you have a chance check out the saxet gun show when it comes to Austin. There is a dealer there that sells microtechs and he is also a member here, his screen name is RRG.

I feel your pain. It took me almost 2 years to run down an Enzo Birk. But don't worry, if it's something you really want it will be worth the hunt.

For me it's the Szabofly. I know they pop up occasionally but I can't quite catch one.

BePrepared: Sent you a PM on where you can find a couple in the configuration you're looking for

Thanks for the pm. I called them and they are 100% out of stock on all production MT's. They have one custom left for a grand, but it's not one i want

Has this ever happened to you?

Happens to me a lot. For some reason many of the knives that I really like are discontinued so I have to search to find them. I've found that if you are persistent and search frequently you will have a good chance of finding what you want. Well I don't search for the really, really rare stuff.

I also find that there are a lot of interesting knives to buy so I don't get too hung up on the few that are hard to find.

It's pretty hard to find a Curtiss F3 that isn't ridiculously overpriced. The ones I've seen go up lately have been selling for $900+, even though Dave sells them for $600, and his books will be opening again soon anyways.

Sigh... i've now searched every place on the internet that i can possibly think of and cannot find a SINGLE plain edge Tanto Combat Troodon or Tanto Ultratech... 3 days of searching new AND used markets and I have nothing at all to show for it

Western W45 and Western W43 bowies. The 5 and 3 inch blades. Only made for a year or two - 1989 to MAYBE 1991ish, the last years Coleman owned the Western name before selling it to Camillus.
