Knives you want, and can afford, but can't FIND

When I saw the thread title I immediately thought Microtech. Probably better off, I don't need to spend that much on a knife(Scarab) anyway.

I was in the same boat looking for an Ultratech last month. Just be patient and hopefully one will come into stock. I just hope you get a good one right off the bat, instead of having to send it directly to the factory out of box like mine...

Halo V, plain edge tanto blade, black, red, or blue handle. Never to be seen again...

For all the people who dislike Microtech, it sure is hard to find some models/limited's.

It took me a few months to find my Microtech Socom Elite in CTS-204P with the spear point blade instead of the chisel ground tanto. I ended up finding a green one with the grip tape inserts, but with a Cerakoted blade instead of a stone wash or satin finish. The Cerakote has held up extremely well, even better than my DLC coated blades. Cerakote seems to smooth out like oxide coated blades, just many times more scratch and wear resistant.

I've had a hankering for a spear point Socom Elite in ELMAX lately, but I'm not sure if such an animal exists. I would imagine Microtech's heat treat on ELMAX would be fantastic as always. My 204P blade holds a great, toothy edge for a long time between steeling/stropping.

And I really want an Ultratech in ELMAX. I don't care for OTF's all that much, but the Ultratech is just such a good knife. Cuts well, good steel, industry leading mechanicals, and they are priced pretty competitively. I remember the first one I played with before I knew anything about Microtech/Any OTF's and was sure it was gonna be a $400 knife.

Big 5 exclusive Kershaw Chill with thumbstuds, everytime I have money they never had it. I am under the impression it was a quick run of it a few years ago. Wasn't a fan of the blade style but it was easily one of the smoothest opening knives I have owned and my first introduction to flippers and even though I didn't use it I loved how it doubled as a guard. It was extremely lightweight too from what I recall enough that I was weary about using it till I've seen the kind of abuse it can handle when someone else I knew put it through it's paces. Unfortunately that was long after I lost that knife.
