I hate it when people think that I am some kind of physco serial killer because I collect knives. When I was younger my mother was scared. Now whenever I tell people they think I'm crazy. Its just as scary as collecting comic books or coins. I just don't get it

Sheeple will be Sheeple. It's one of those things you kind of just live with or figure out a way to get around. I'm just very smooth about telling people I collect, and usually start off with showing traditionals.
They don't quite make them so tense

I don't discuss my knives with other people. In my opinion American culture is too far gone to have knife or gun collecting be considered a normal thing to do. There is nothing inherently wrong with that. Your friends and family's view concerning knives might not change, ever. It's not worth causing what they might consider a "breach of trust" or "suspicious activity" because you want to talk about your hobby. Is it unfair? Of course. Is it a reality of a modern need to be politically correct? Yes. I'd rather hide my knives than run the risk of losing a friend or the trust of a family member.

By the way... when it comes time to give gifts, an SAK or Opinel can do wonders to change peoples' views on knives.

I own a knife business and still don't talk about it with most people around town. I know a few coin collectors and stamp collectors and they don't really talk about their collections with me. Everyone has their thing and some people just don't get it. If someone wants to think a certain way about me because I sell and collect knives, I say let them, it is their loss.

Actually, I have one account of my knives being considered odd.

I was on a public wifi server the other day, so I googled blade forums and I got "sorry this domain is blocked by the administrator, category:weapons", needless to say, I emailed that admin and spoke my mind...

As snobby as it sounds, I throw the prices at them almost immediately and then they realize im serious about it.
When they hear that I spend alot and know all about the materials, it turns more into "art" vs "crazy kid". (Im 19)
I collect coins also.

Every time I tell someone how much one of my knives are worth I get this

I have had that happen at my college and I fill out the form that makes them reconsider the rating and a few times I was able to make them change the ratting to where I could access the page.

Off topic, who is better, Magic Sam or Buddy Guy?
Buddy guy is far better. I just saw him and the kid Quinn Sullivan a couple weeks ago

I hope to see him before he dies, he has got to be in his late 70's by now I am guessing. I loved seeing him on Shine a Light the Rolling Stones Movie.
Defiantly find out were he is playing. He is I think 76 and the kid he plays with is fifteen and a great musician. Look him up his name is quin sullivan

Neither, Albert King is the original "blues bender"...

On second thought, that probably means nothing to you unless you actually play the blues.
