How many of you agree 100% with the free knife for kids program that Derrick started last week?

How many of you will now buy from him to show your support for his outstanding generosity?

I'll start.

I crave many knives and will buy some in the next few days and weeks.

My next purchase will be from Derrick and knivesshipfree.

I applaud Derrick for what he has done and fully support his next venture. I'll support that further by buying my next blade from him.

I know many of you will do the same.

Can we post pics of our kids and grandkids here with their Buck 285 (as Derrick asked us to send him a pic in the same manner) and also post the next knife you buy from Derrick?

Even better would be a pic of you and your child/grandchild with each of you and your knives out in the field having your next adventure.

I think that would make an outstanding thread with some great photos.

I'll post back when my 285 gets here and again when I get my knew blade from Derrick.

Anyone else in?

P.S. - If you read my signature, you'll understand why this means so much to me.

A very nice offer from KSF.I have bought many Northwoods form them .Shipping to the U.K. has not been a problem and every knife has been top notch.

I think it's an amazing offer and one of the truly great ideas I've seen from a knife retailer. It's very unfortunate that so many have tried to game the system and abused the offer to great lengths.

As for future purchases, I already thought highly of KSF and will return there to buy again. The kids knife offer only confirms my opinion.

I would love to see a huge thread with just pics of kids with their knives. That would be awesome!

I think it is a great program and a wonderful offer! I will consider purchasing more from KSF but not just because of this program, though it does add icing on the cake.

However, I am not participating in the program. My Daughter (8) already has some quality cutlery (Native 5, SAK, and this spring/summer a Bradford Guardian3). I also don't post pictures of my daughter on the internet, anywhere. That said if others want to post pics here of them and their kids using their knives, I am all for it!

I am looking at getting a KSF pocket Sheath soon and when I do I will be sure to help support This program with the $5 add on donation.

I don't have kids yet so I am not participating but I will absolutely buy my next knife at KSF because of the program. Thank you very much for what you are doing!

While I do not have kids myself, I agree 100% that this is a great program. I can remember the first knife I got as a kid. It was a little key chain knife that my mom bought me at a flee market. It couldn't cut anything as it was so dull but it was a knife! I had plenty more given to me and learned how to use them, sharpen them and how to respect them. Same with guns. Parents today don't want the responsibility of being a parent and actually teaching their kids safety and accountability and that is sad.

I loved Derrick's video in response to the letter chastising him for the program. Thank you for standing your ground and for giving all of these kids their first knife that many will never part with.

KSF is one of the best online dealers for the brands that they offer, bar none. His list of brands are expanding, but I don't believe nor do I think it's his goal to become a full blown dealer. Derrick has created a very select knife boutique.

His model is 100% customer experience oriented. Everyone should purchase from KSF at least once.

Just the great customer service has kept me a KSF customer.

I did do the kids knife program with KSF for my grandkid,

I think there was a problem with the Kids Knife program. I got an email saying something to the effect of knives aren't shipping as of yet even though I got a ship notification.

I have purchased a couple knives from KSF and will be picking up another very soon. I've enjoyed my interaction with the folks at KSF and Tyler has always been awesome to deal with. I will also be donating to this program as I ordered one for my youngest daughter and support this program fully.

My girls received their knives. They love them. The best part is the name on the side of the blade .....it makes it kind of personal.

I have purchased from KSF before and will continue to use Derrick in the future.

Good things happen to good people.

Update::::::::::

I did receive the Buck kids knife from KSF. for my Grandson.

very cool! The etching with his name is great!

Thanks Derrick.

It is a great program, and honestly a great knife... I have one that I got about 3 years ago.

I applaud Derrick for doing this, even though he knew from the start, there would be some that would take advantage of the program.
I didn't sign up because my son is almost 18, and has had knives since he was about 8 years old.

I have bought from KSF in the past, and had zero issues. It has been fun seeing the company grow, and even better to see them move here to Oregon :D
What better place to have a knife store, because many of the top knife companies are located not far from where they opened their new store.
The only two I can think of that aren't within 20-30 miles are CRK and Buck, but they are just across the border into Idaho

I don't purchase from dealers often but, my next will be from KnivesShipFree. I had tossed the idea around of getting my son his first knife. Hadn't fully been able to make up my mind on when until I read through Derrick and gangs program. The sentiments coupled with their generosity had even my lady convinced that it was time to start a soft intro.

So yes, because of this program, they have earned my business. That has as much to do with their operations and passion for knives as it does their generosity though.

We can make that happen, no problem at all. If someone wants to start it off, I'll be glad to keep an eye on it and make sure it stays on topic. Let me know.

It would be pretty sad and lame for people to take advantage and order a knife that was not destined for their child, I agree. I did not take advantage of this simply because my daughter has already received her first knife and my son still a newborn will end up with something from my current collection. Who am I kidding, both kids will probably get to use whatever knives I have and keep what they like and want.
The generosity of this kind of thing speaks volumes about the passion that Derrick has about knives and kids. He has earned my deepest respect for caring that much about the next generation, it sets an unbeatable precedent from what I can see.
Thanks Derrick!

Great company. Great folks. Great gesture.

Happy to be a continued customer.

(My kid is 23 but this would have been a great thing to do. He still has the Buck mini - mentor I bought him when he was 10. Lots of other knives as well.)

Derrick is a CLASS act.

I'll get on started in the General Forum-- Thanks for letting it go there!
