I looked through the rules just to make sure I am not violating them with this post.
If I happen to be mistaken, please, feel free to delete or just tell me to and I will.

I used to be able to consistently find GEC knives at Knivesshipfree but I haven't seen them stock GEC knives in years. Is this just me? Am I missing something? They are still advertised on GEC's site as a distributor so I'm not really sure what to make of that.

Thank you in advance for any information on this subject.

They are still a GEC distributor, but they sell out in minutes. Same as other GEC dealers. It's unusual to find any dealers with GEC knives in stock on their websites.

When is the last time you saw them stock any? I look all the time and new GEC models don't even seem to be listed as sold items.

When did you last see them in stock? It’s been a few years. Do you see the other retailers having GEC in stock? It’s an insane market and no dealer has even a moderately popular pattern in stock for more than a few minutes. Sorry if this is rude, but KSF is good people and are just like every other GEC dealer. It’s a tough world

theyre still in stock if you want an 05 key chain, all jokes aside, its a terrible scramble, literally only one place i have book marked still has any gecs in stock currently, and im guessing although its recent, must not be a terribly popular model. Gone are the halcyon days when one could take the time to contemplate a purchase. Some dealer sites no longer really bother to update their site anymore, there is no need, the knives would be gone before the site refreshed if priced low enough.

There really was a time long ago when you could find GEC in stock on most GEC dealer's sites. Sometimes for a couple of years after GEC release.
And most knives were around $100, with a majority consistently and sometimes MUCH less than $100. Those days are long gone and far away.
Sign up for the release emails, contact KSF (and other dealers) with your concerns.

They send out email notification but unless you happen to be checking your mail when the notification arrives your already too late. I got lucky once when the last 47s dropped while I was checking my mail and had enough time to go to their site and snag one. There’s other dealers that I’ve found easier to score when they do their public drops. There was a drop of acrylic 81s on a site today that lasted a couple of hours. Good price too.

I haven’t seen GEC in stock at KSF in many years. Of all the distributors, not only are they one of the best…they are also one of the most popular and sell out GEC or NW in minutes.
You’d be hard pressed to find GEC in stock pretty much anywhere though.

+1

I score on KSF every once in a while. Sign up for email updates, set your email settings to fetch emails more frequently, and have the page pulled up already and waiting for that email to say they’re live.

Godspeed

I take the money I used to spend on GEC knives and now I play the lottery with it. Playing the lottery doesn't really accomplish any more than trying to buy the new GECs when they are released, but I win the lottery (for a few dollars) just as often as I could score a new GEC, and it's a lot less frustrating and time consuming.

Someday soon I'll sell all my GECs that I bought at the old prices, back when they were actually available, and take a nice vacation with the proceeds.

I have not had a large number of transactions with KSF, but every one I have had has been positive.

This is not directed towards KSF but I have noticed some dealers keeping their allotment of GECs and siphoning off a few here and there at a later date (like 1-3 months later) and significantly higher price. Thus, I can't afford to buy them anymore.

I think these practices have taken away from the joy and nostalgic feelings I and many others had for collecting them. It was alot of fun while it lasted. For me ,we have came to a point I don't like the practices I see from the dealers and flippers etc. I just choose to put my money to use in other ways.

I will say I have met alot of great people on this site that helped me get some knives I would have never been able to obtain otherwise. I'm glad I got a chance to be a part of the porch and met all the people here so it was a win for me 😀

I’ve only noticed one GEC dealer who does that, but that (and this whole discussion, honestly) is probably better suited for GB&U.

Supply and demand, my friend. Supply and demand. There are probably people that sit in front of their computers clicking the refresh button on GEC drops… and likely some that grease the wheels for backdoor networking at distributors. Is it fair? No. Is it illegal? Also no. Best bet is to check the secondary. Plenty of honorable folks that drop them at fair pricing here.

Getting a piece on the secondary from the most recent runs are usually around dealer prices…so don’t feel like you have to wait to buy from a dealer.

It’s also interesting to note that dealer prices can vary $40-$60. You may actually do better on the secondary in those instances.
