Knock off SOG's

Something that absolutely amazes me is that so many people will slobber over a Chinese (not even rip off) sink metal bush knife that costs the same as the metal in one of the top manufacturers.

Ask them why and the answer is always, I need one for defense or the car. I have been asked to clean up a few new ones that have had their first home use in the garden. They get uppity that I am charging the same to do it as the knife originally cost. So my comment, buy a host of them and throw them away is never taken well.
 
I wish they had some knock off Recon-Bowie and SCUBA/DEMO. After all, the originals were knock offs themselves from various far east sources. So, what the heck.
 
Last night I was reading a book on the history of handguns. Wow the battles and turf wars, conflicts and alliances. That was just with the handgun patents of America!. There were some incredible developments that were paid for by the patents and licencing but there were some real currs copying.
 
What's the difference? The Sog's are all going to be made in China as well.
 
No, not all SOG are going to be made in China. There may be a time in the future when more products are made in China or other places, but I do not for see all SOG production moving to China. We are still producing knives in the US and Japan and we have added Taiwan and China to our manufacturing options. This allows us to offer a more complete and competitive product line.

I just recieved my seal pup in the mail today, but for some reason it has an elite handle and blade, it says seal pup on it and is powder coated too,i didnt know they make them like this now,but regardless i hold the blade in my hand and it feels like it was costum made for me, I love it.

I had this same situation. I can't seem to pull up my old posts, but I had complained that there was not much difference in the new design vs the old. Chris from SOG replied with photos-and I had my own photos showing the hybrid seal pup/seal pup elite. As you say, elite handle/blade but powder coated. I ended up later picking up an elite, uncoated plain edge and preferred it. I later picked up a TiNi coated elite. Each one feels heavier in my hand (and to my reasoning, "Sturdier") than the previous. I'm happy with any of them, but have become partial to the tini coated elite.

Can anyone pull up my old post with the photos?

well today i will be recieving my tigerstripe tini elite, and i will be comparing both of them,hopefully the tigerstripe tini elite will be a better blade being made of aus8 and cost me more to.staytuned.
 
well i just recieved my tigerstripe pup elite, and the handle is identicle to the pup hybrid.the blade is much thicker and heavier, they're the same legnth. the elite tigerstrip tini in my opinion is a better blade than the seal pup hybrid.
