Knockout II Anyone?

I feel that the difference between ZT and Kershaw (other than price) is use. Practically all ZT knives are "overbuilt" to withstand almost all situations. Yes, they can be beautiful (ZT 0560/1), but I don't need THAT much knife on a daily basis. Having Kershaw invade the 80 to 140 territory with high end materials utilizing tried and true designs isn't directly competing with ZT. In fact, it would be taking a bite out of companies like Spyderco that offer many options in that price point that are more daily carry friendly.

With that said, the 0566 and 0770 could be a good step in the right direction for ZT with being more daily carry appropriate. As long as KAI makes knives in the price point (ZT or Kershaw) that are 3 to 3.5 inches around 3 to 4 ounces. They'll have winners.

As for a Knockout 2. Simple: Colors, Blade steel, ball bearing pivot (unassisted), jimping, maybe a g10 model with embedded steel liners... Any one or two of these changes and they'd have another winner. The only problem is that they would only take sales away from the current Knockout which I'd imagine is selling well. If it's not, there's my 2 cents. I'd buy another :-)

Zt is branching out this year away from strictly military/police offerings. Some of their lineup is going to look more at home in a gentleman's business suit. They will never make delicate slicers I don't believe and they will always be damn near indestructible (which is what sold many of their fans) but they will vary their line slightly. Exciting things are going on and I for one am anxiously looking forward to whatever is on the horizon.

ZT 0770:
Umm. I love it. Yet devils advocate?? A beefed up Knockout pretty much. The obvious sweet Blade shape. And better steel. Yet in final cost only $40-50 separating this and the 0801? As an aluminum liner lock? Did I miss the TPS report?

Yea, the 0770 is pretty similar to the knockout save for the steel. I still say there is room in between.

Oh and I want an 0801...

I agree. Like Spykers said, $80 to 140 territory should be open game the Kershaw brand should capitalize on... For sales and prestige. I know the ZT line is expanding which is also a good thing, but they shouldn't stop putting out higher dollar pieces like the Volt 3600 among others from the Kershaw line.

Kershaw's new models are made in china and I like this decision, it means the USA facilities can focus on the tried and true kershaws and ZT lines. I wouldn't pay over 100 for a kershaw that wasn't a collector's piece. NIB I can get 0350 variants below 140 and I am assuming the 0566 will be in a similar price point.

Zero Tolerance is expanding its line but will never focus on edc blades. They aren't really blurring the difference between the two brands as ZT will always be service oriented (look at the name). If that holds true, I wouldn't mind seeing what Kershaw can do at higher price points for edc. I've said as much before... I mean, we're not looking at the Kershaw brand as strictly the value branch of KAI are we?

Yes we are, ZT even has said recently in interviews they are broadening their lineup so it isn't so service oriented and trying to get into the classier edc options as well. They say it repeatedly in the video interviews from shot.

Knockout II: Just like the Knockout I in every single way...but without assisted opening.

I'd buy one of those. :p

Aside from the assist I'm pretty friggin' happy with the knockout design.

I dunno bout a knockout 2 but I def agree with people that say LE colors need to be produced. Then gauge interest and then try some LE blade steels..... I think they can slip into the 70-140 price range a little more but I wanna see them do another high end limited edition knife! Tilt, Volt, what's next .....

I think start out with some different colors like they did the Blur then expand to some different blade steels/composites and always have the basic version available

I'd like to see the Knockout to become the new Blur... Waiting for my purple and green Blur blems from Kershawguy... Anticipation is killing me
