Knockout or Manix?

Going to buy a new EDC knife soon, and I have it narrowed down to the Kershaw Knockout OD green and the Spyderco Manix translucent blue. Any thoughts on which one you think I could get and why?

Just so that you don't think there's no Knockout supporters, I love my Knockout. It's truly my main EDC (if I'm not going to work). It's so thin, and rides wonderfully with the deep carry clip. I bought mine on the forums basically LNIB with an acid washed blade and it's seriously one of my top 3 knives.

Go for the Spyderco. Their fiberglass reenforced handles are very tough and light, but if you could stretch a little more and get the G10 version I think you'll like it even more. The steel liners add a little more weight but they give a very solid feel to the knife.

Cool thing about Manix translucent, among other is low weight because there's no steel liners in handle, but it cannot be dismantle for example for cleaning. Once I droped mine from pocket height to concrete and damaged a handle a little. My concern is since there is no steel liners the plastic handle is all that keep it together.

IMO
Piston > KO
Piston > Manix G10
Manix LWT > Piston

All great knives though but I especially love the Piston and LWT Manix in S110v. BD1 is ok, but I like Sandvik better.

Get the Manix 2 you will not regret it. Then get the Knockout later because it's really awesome as well.

I have a Knockout and I never carry it. It's well made and a decent enough knife but I have a lot of other knives I like better.

I have a Manix 2 in TB on order. Spyderco ergonomics are unsurpassed and I expect it will fit me better.

For EDC, I'd take the Knockout. Its thin in the pocket, where it will spend 99% of its day. Deep clip so it disappears. Plenty of blade with good belly, and it is super flat. Fires hard. Yeah. The Manix 2 lightweight is sweet. Its just a little more bulky in the pocket.

Glad you're enjoying it, brother!

I'll also give another nod to the Knockout. It's a great size, feels solid in the hand, the blade is pretty versatile, and it rides great in the pocket. Another plus is just the awesome OD green scales coupled with the DLC blade. That combo just looks killer. To be fair, I don't own a Manix but I've heard they are awesome knives. I just like my Kershaws more.

Not to mention Kershaw has some of the best warranty/customer service out there. They'll even do blade replacements (for a small fee) if you ever fudge yours up. Spyderco won't do that.

Just a heads up, last time I had pre ordered from knifeworks, I was billed as they were gearing up to ship (benchmade 710-1401). I dont know for sure if they work the same for every pre order, but I placed my pre order for the Manix 2 LW s110v late last night and was billed immediately.

Take that with a grain of salt as I have yet to hear from anyone in the spyderco sub forum, or knifeworks via here or facebook, but that may be to stop a rush on them.

What I'm getting at is if you want a manix 2 s110v place your pre orders now... at only $106, it is a steal. Free shipping over $99 too.

Keep in mind, you can buy aftermarket screws and drill out the pins on the s110v and put the blade on a g10 manix body if you'd like. S110v and g10 on one, and rebuild the old LW with the s30v and gift it to a friend, or keep it as a spare/nice loaner.

... And this is the awesome guy I bought it from! I'm telling you, that Knockout is seriously awesome. I'm carrying it right now! ☺

Thanks everyone for your input! As of right now, I think I'm leaning more towards the Manix (subject to change). But if there is anything to be concluded from this thread, it's that both are excellent EDC options, and I'll probably end up owning both eventually :)

I'm not familiar with the Knockout. (Silly name. Is it a curvaceous blond ?) But I like the Manix 2 (G-10) a lot, so I bought a Manix 2 XL (G-10).

I just sold my knockout, not that it was bad, just didn't seem to have a need for it anymore. it was well made, sharp, great lockup, but I do still have my manix lightweight blue. love those handles, the ball lock, the light weight & the grip. They are both pretty cheap, you should just get em both !

Manix 2xl lwt in s110v is the best value in knives anywhere. Of the the two you specified the translucent manix gets my vote easily.
