Knockout or Piston?

The knockout would be an almost perfect knife with G-10 scales, IMO anyway. Thats why I am hesitant to purchase, no G-10. Aluminum=slippery.

There are still G10 versions (from the first production run) available from various dealers.

Yea I'd be curious on that one too because even if they say on their website in the description that it is a G10 knife, there is about a 99.99% likelihood that they just didn't update their description with the change in materials.

I'm back with some pics. :D

I still like the Knockout better with it's slim aluminum handles.

Maybe they'll make an aluminum Piston(hint;))

Those may be the best photos I've seen of the Piston and Knockout.

Now how can we get the Blur-style studs for the Knockout? Kershaw should adopt those as its standard studs.

I love my knockout! Sorry I don't have the piston. I just had to show extra love for the knockout.

Btw what site's sell the g10 knockout. I heard amazon has not updated the description.

I have both of these knives. I prefer the knockout. The aluminum scales feel like they are more sturdy than the g10 on the piston and the subframe lock is cooler than the liner lock to me. Also The AO on the my piston is very sluggish and doesn't open with the same authority as the rest of my speedsafe knives. Both knives look good and have excellent F&F.

Of course the correct answer is to get both.

Sorry to everyone in my previous post:

You are right, it looks like most of the dealers just haven't gotten around to updating their listings yet.

Got my Knockout and, for me, it's a mixed bag.

Love the wide blade, thin handles, light weight and deep-pocket clip.

Stonewashing is a nice improvement over Kershaw's previous standard beadblasted blades.

But, while the aluminum scales may be strong, they are also slippery. And the Knockout has no jimping.

Also, while the studs are usable to open and close, I don't need or care for the assisted opening. It's pretty strong on the Knockout -- too strong for me to feel comfortable using in front of people in an urban office setting.
