Hey guys,

In the brush, knots can be extremely useful. On Klippe, we're compiling instructions and information on a bunch of the most useful ones.

So far we have video and/or photo instructions on six of them. Blue links are knots with instructions written, red links are wanted articles.

You can check them out here! Please consider adding one or two of your own!

What's your favorite knot?

I'll start. One cool and relatively unknown knot is the the Monkey Chain Knot. (Link has a video of it being made). It is very fast to tie, and is used to store lengths of cord. It's very impressive how much the cord is compacted. The best part? One tug unravels the entire thing for fast use.

I actually made a sling on that premise for keychain carry:

Also use it to coil up my rope dart:

I need to do a pictorial of "rope handcuffs"....very quick/handy...especially around unruly (but otherwise good-natured) teenagers. :D

CanDo,

Greta wiki. I have some stuff I've written up on various subjects. I'll get them together in the next week or so and get some in there.

BTW, I'm in CT. Where in New England are you?

That would be awesome! Any obvious uses aside from restraints?

It is essentially a double (2 loop) slip-knot...so anything you use a slipknot for...if you needed two loops...this would do it.

Brian,

Primary residence in NE Mass, and a place in NW Maine. It might be the land of liberals, but the coastline of Massachusetts in July through September is nothing short of awesome. That would be awesome if you have stuff for the wiki. If you're crunched on time, just point me in the direction of your writing or photos, and I'll move it over. You can e-mail me at funditor.info@gmail.com.

Dan,
Sounds good. This reminds me that I've been meaning to do a write up on the knot I use to hold bottles (forget the real name).

Tie (no pun intended) between a cat's paw for its symmetrical simplicity, and a clove hitch. I like the latter because there are a few ways to tie it, including one-handed!

I like the "Rosendhal" (probably misspelled), also known as the Zeppelin knot, it replaces the sheet bend.
