I have folding smaller Tantos, but I want something bigger for at home or camping, something fix blade.
It would be have to be under $70. I have looked at the Ka-Bar 8" blade black Tanto, except it's not as long as I would like. I also like the Cold Steel Master Tanto Series, although they are way out of my price range.

Thanks!

I had a Cold Steel Recon Tanto way back in the day. I liked it.

You MAAAYYYBE can find an AUS-8 version for around your price range.

Mine was the AUS-8 version, and I found it serviceable.

EDIT: I see you wanted a 9 to 12 inch BLADE length, not overall length. The Recon Tanto is only 7"... but it was plenty.

Not for your price range. I'm sure if you look around on various sales sites you might be able to find something.

The Cold Steel stuff is pretty nice, but you'd be looking at a couple of bills ($200 range). And you mentioned Ka-Bar.. They do make a "Full-Size Tanto" in black with kydex sheath (around $72) with an 8 inch blade. If that's still too small for you, you may have to forgo the tanto point and go with something like the Ka-Bar "Big Brother" Utility - 9-3/8" clip point for around $80.

I bought a tanto, I think it's 8 inch blade from Kabar company few years back, it's more a combat fighting blade rather than utility or bushcrafter - blade is too thin and I'd say fragile for batoning or chopping.... It's good for stabing and cutting... Cost was about 50 bucks, comes with Kydex sheath.

Hard to find those blade lengths nowadays...
You are looking at either a Cold Steel Oyabun (9 in., discontinued), Cold Steel Magnum Tanto (p in. version, discontinued) Cold Steel Warcraft Tanto (bigger version, 12 in.),SOGFari machete (crappy 10 in. fragile pot steel POS), TOPS Steel Eagle (11 in. tough 1095 beast), EnTrek USA Strike Eagle (another 9in. tough carbon steel American made blade) and not much more.

If you can forget about Tanto shape, or at least the American tanto, there's dozens of blades available in that size range that will suit your needs.
Good luck!

The OP has looked at that knife, and it's not long enough.

Yes, the price is going to make this very difficult. If it were me I would save my money longer and get the large Cold Steel warcraft. Considering how large a piece of 3v it is I think it is actually quite a good value.

CS Tanto series seem very well made, nice and rigid blades , if I be into tanto blades, I d give them a shot for sure, I think they go smth over 200 bucks, but seem money well spent

I decided to go with the Ka-Bar. I'll pick up a CS Tanto in the future, when money isn't tight.
Thanks for the responses guys!
