Knuptial Knife

Pix round 2, and that should be it.

BTW, I don't know who that goofy looking guy is there at the end...? Looks well armed tho! :D

Thanks guys for trying so hard to get the pics posted ~ we can't wait to see them!

Dan, I promise the folks of the Cantina will be among the first to know when an official date is set. There are several practical things that must be worked out first but don't worry... the amazingly non-threatening looking (wink, wink) knife will be put to good use in the not-too-distant future!

Btw, one of our "practical issues" is attempting to make house-mates (and hopefully friends) out of a 5 lb. mature female cat (mine) and an 80 lb. adult male dog (Bryan's avatar). Neither is all that aggressive and both are sweet-natured but our chief concern is the very real possibility that Wendy (a "nervous Nelly" type who was neglected and left in poor shape by her previous owner almost a year ago) will be so terrified of her much bigger and louder house-mate that the stress will affect her health and well-being.

Bryan's not too worried about Code's adjustment, but I feel kinda bad for him being uprooted and pulled away from his playmate (a rambunctious boxer). This "experiment in terror" will take place in my house, which is tight quarters with only one story. Besides prayers and good luck wishes (which we do appreciate, btw!), does anyone here have any suggestions to make this whole thing go as smoothly as possible? Keep in mind that Bryan and I are about four hours apart right now and so visits will be limited to two or three brief meetings before the two will become permanent house-mates.

Bryan asked this question in Community a while back and we got some good suggestions, but so far the swapping-scents thing hasn't worked too well (at least for Wendy, who avoid's Code's scent-soaked towel at all costs). Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. We are both pretty concerned about it but are hoping for the best.

Thanks to Golok and everyone for all the good wishes. You guys (and gal) are a very cool bunch!

First off, congrats to y'all. Now as to getting the cat and dog to tolerate each other, you've got your work cut out for you. Here's how I got a Blue Heeler/Akita mix and a unknown breed cat to tolerate each other. Notice I said, tolerate. They never did actually get along, they just accepted each others existance. It is recommended that you take time off from work to do this project, as it took me about 3 weeks to do. First, I would let each have the run of the house, while the other was confined to either the bedroom, or the bathroom. This was run in 4-5 hour shifts. At night they stayed seperate. Once they stopped trying to remark everything, (IE rubbing and in the case of the dog, peeing, on everything) I started allowing them to see each other thru a baby fence. Had to put up two of them in the doorway, to keep the dog from jumping them. Each had the run of the house excet the room that the other was confined in. This was rotated every so often. Once they quit hissing and growling when they saw the other, I started supervised unrestricted access to the house. Eventually they accepted the fact that they were stuck living in the same house. They avoided each other as much as was possible, but didn't fight (Much). I've also used the same system to integrate a new kitten to the house.

Congrats to the both of Ye! :D
I can't think of a nicer use for the Cherokee Rose design even though it wasn't designed to look so non-threatening. ;) :D :D :D :D

Just a little update- Mom was by the house earlier this week, and I had the opportunity to show her the "cake-cutter". My Mom has been making wedding cakes professionally for most of my life, so she has quite a bit of experience slicing them up with a variety of implements. Not only was she NOT freaked out by the -shall we say, unconventional- appearance of the Cherokee Wedding Bell Rose, but she was greatly impressed by the skillful customization and the generosity of my fellow knife knuts. :D Thanks again, gang. :) I am really looking forward to using this baby. ;)

Just for me, at the reception, can you throw up a piece of cake in the air and then throw the knife at it, piercing it cleanly and having it stick into a wooden cutting board the caterer's will be using to slice the roast beef?
(dont forget to take video of that)

Good idea, Danny!!:D;)

"goofy looking guy is there at the end"--heehe, uh waitnow...dat me! Looking back, I wished I'd rented a tux fer that pic! Mebber then I'da made it intah the wedding pic album:D

I'm pretty sure I lack the skills to do that with a Cherokee Rose-

-but I'd be willing to try it with a custom wedding-engraved Ferrous shuriken! ;) :p :D

I'm very sure that would freak some folks out.

Mac - I'm very pleased to hear about your Mom's positive reaction.

Go for it Peeps, BTW did you guys set a date yet....I wouldn't let the animals get in the way....they'll adapt just fine. ;)

Trust me, if I were to try that kind of fancy knife throwing at our wedding, I'd be lucky to pull it off without seriously wounding the groom and at least half of the guests! ("You killed my auntie!")

Fortunately, one of the best things about a small wedding like the one we're wanting is that it doesn't take much planning. We're shooting for a ceremony within the next 3-4 months. There are a few things, such as living arrangements, jobs, pet introductions (which from the research we've read needs to be gradual), etc., that we hope to have worked out first. However, knowing that things rarely go as perfectly planned, we both know we want to be together as soon as possible and if things aren't firmed up by November, we'll probably go for it by then anyway! All the practical things will work themselves out eventually! :)

It might sound funny, but the pet thing really concerns us because cat and dog strangers who are forced to live together (esp. adult pets and esp. in tight quarters) often results in a "scaredy cat" who becomes an escape artist. :( We're working on it though and are hoping for the best!

Thanks for your support and please know, when we decide on a definite date, you guys will be among the first to know!
