Kobra specs : 20"

I'll stick with the Stamp of appoval. I think Cliff is one of the best and most honest in the test community. I like the way he tests and I admire his kindness when a knife breaks or falls apart.

Cliff's testing reports and look for new ones to read and learn from. If people disagree they should post their own testing results so we can all learn and benefit. Thanks Cliff!

I made the decision to buy my first HI khuk based on what I read in Cliff's test reviews.

The next nine just kinda happened.

Kinda same deal here.

Was searching for Japanese cooking knives.

Found BladeForums because of a review of a Fallkniven Santoku style cooking knife.

Further explored BladeForums Reviews section.

Saw a Stamp review of a HI khuk, and was very interested.

Found the HI forum, then the web site, then bought a 15" AK Uncle Bill's Deal of the Day.

Now I have several.

For some things the internet really works better than anyone expects.

For what it's worth, here's my 22" Kobra made by the master himself, Bura. The wood handle offers a great grip and is very nicely carved/shaped. It is sufficiently long enough that I can choke up an extra finger if I want even more speed. I can even hold the handle in a two hand grip for the utmost speed/power, but that's pushing it :)

The balance is superb and the weight is 'just right'...not too light so it doesn't feel like you're wielding a toy, but heavy enough to remove a limb with one swipe.

There are only three things that would make this Kobra better than it already is. One...a nicer looking cho, personal preference only. Two...steel fittings, again personal preference only. Three...a quick draw scabbard.

So, as you can see, the minor gripes I have with it have only to do with aesthetics and the scabbard...the weapon itself is *superb*.

Roger Smith :

It seems that the only people who would do the griping would be those who can't back up the hype.

Essentially yes, and those that are influenced by them.

As for me being wrong, yes it happens. That just means you learned something you didn't already know, that is a good thing if you take responsibility for previous comments. When it is a big issue that I have commented on in the past, I'll post to the correction specifically.

In regards to the broken knives, they will go back to the maker/manufacturer if they request. Otherwise if the blade is useful or can be made useful I will do some grinding and give it away. If it is totally destroyed, and there is no request to return it, it goes in the bits and pieces box for reference material.

Thanks all.
