Just e-mailed Bill, and said I won't be able to type that word ever again without adding exclamation marks. Received a 25" Sanu this AM that boggles my mind. The blade (per my mailman) couldn't be more perfect if it had been CNC machined. The wood, brass, everything is fitted to a gnat's whisker, except for the handles on the little blades and that took all of 5 min. to true up. The sheath is stick, but that has been covered. If the dry air from the AC doesn't cure it, I already have the lath and a selection of paper strips ready to go. The edge hasn't shaved hair on my arm yet (not used to the weight) but the Lab has a tiny bald spot at the top of her tail. Figured if I goofed I could dye her face and pretend she was a Dobe

There may never be a report on chopping-hacking-splitting with this one - it screams WEAPON. On the other hand, I've always wanted to play "Crockledockle Dundee" ("This is a knife!") so I mignt hang out at the Walmart parking lot with it. Nawww - sirens give me a headache. I'm beyond HIKV now. I think I've got full-blown BLAIDS!

Ah, the seductive charm of the 25" Kobra...

I agree that the middleweight Kobra would most likely make a formidable weapon; but don't dismiss it as an all-round workhorse. Short of felling giant redwoods (well, felling giant redwoods *quickly*) there ain't much those beauties can't do.

Congratulations on the start of a beautiful friendship; I hope the two of you are very happy together.

AAAGH!
I am still waiting for my 12" Sirupati to arrive and can't stop thinking about getting one of these...
And you had to write this! This is cheating!

I keep hearing such great reviews of this knife! It may just have to be added to the wish list.

I can't make any comparisons since my only other Khuk is a 12" Sirupati (Sorry, Ivan), but the impression is one of great force, like having your finger on the "go" button of a big hydraulic ram, or opening and closing the bolt on a .458 Winchester. It will cut wood and slice tomatoes, but there is so much in reserve that any blade I've owned or handled is paled by it.

Well Walosi now what do you think
about what I got you into Bro?

It was only a few days ago that Walosi went to Howard's FAQ's link I have in my e-mail address.
Now he is the proud owner of a 12" Sirupati and a 25" Kobra!!!
And he's got one of his boy's coming here too.

I am a carrier of HIKV, but Walosi's son Alan has MADV which I suspect
most of us here have as well.
If not, look out!!!!

Mine's above my mouse a 4" grab away.

Ivan, you fit right in with the wailing and gnashing of teeth as you await your order's arrival. Save the sackcloth and ashes for the next time

Did I mention my orders so far have always made it to my neck of the woods the very next day? I called Uncle Bill about 2:30 PM one afternoon and picked it up at 8:25 AM the next morning.

Walosi,

Uhummm... if any of your other blades are paling in comparison to your new aquisition, I would gladly welcome them into my loving home where they will be cherished and treated kindly. I would not allow them to feel embarrassed by making them compete with the awesome craftsmanship of your new Kobra. They could all live in harmony here with me in the woods of western South Dakota, where the deer and antelop play

You buy them books, send them to school, and they use your own words and tactics against you.....parenthood can be a lonely existence. Antelop??? antelop??? Two months to a degree and I read antelop. OHhh woe.

Walosi,

Sorry to use your own tactics on you, but I couldn't resist... the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree

FWIW, I *did* noticed the missing "e" from antelope after posting it, but what the heck... it was late, the dog wanted out and I was just too lazy to go back in and edit the message. I really do know how to spell... I just can't prove it right now

The offer still stands too... Any of your blades that are feeling less than adequate can still come live with me and my pooch

Bill:
If you run that link all the way through the Sturgis Rally photos, you'll see why his mom worries, still, after all these years. Not me, though - I'm just jealous

:
I did some checking on Walosi's link and didn't find what I think he was wanting us to see.
I don't now if this one will work any better, but it might be worth a look.
Alan has some really nice pix from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
biggrin.gif

You have to get back a few pages to see them though.

Yvsa,

Thanks for the kind words about my Sturgis photos. It was a long week. I lost 20 lbs from the combination of walking all day and carrying 50 lbs of gear (also kicking my Mt. Dew habit and drinking just water). The magazine I was primarily shooting for folded, so I got burned on about $2500.00. But what the heck, I can still sell them for previews of next year's rally. Sadly, I've gained back the 20 lbs and I'm back on my Mt. Dew habit

I'm not sure the link works right... but here is the easiest was to see the stuff on Ezuma if you are so inclined:

1). go to www.ezuma.com
2). click on non-members
3). do a search for Alan Carroll

This will bring up all 139 photos of mine online (this is embarassing
redface.gif
). Most of them are of the Rally or the Jasper Fire here in SD last year. Not much has happened lately that'd be fodder for Zuma. I've got to get out and start shooting news stuff again!

or you could go to www.acstudios.net

That is my newest site. There is a bunch of studio stuff there, but it is still under construction.

To bring this back to topic... I just finished filing my taxes online
smile.gif
I should get plenty back to make at least one purchase
biggrin.gif
After 19 pages of return, I should be able to get *all* of my current wish list... just for suffering through it (just kidding Mom)! We'll see if they get it back in the 10-15 days they promised for online filing... the clock is ticking
