This might be a dumb question and my forum searched didn't turn up anything. I'm setting my grinder to run wet and would like to use the kool mist 77/78 solution to avoid rust. I know this product was designed for metal. I also wanted to take advantage of wet grinding while shaping my handles to keep the dust down. I haven't been unable to find out if the kool mist 77/78 solution will negatively impact wood, micarta, g10 etc. Has anyone used this solution for this and what was the outcome?

Thanks,

If none of my fellow wet grinders are using a kool mist solution what are you guys using when shaping your handle material? Is everyone just using water across the board or do you switch it up depending on what your grinding? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I went the 5 gallon bucket and tile saw pump route on my wet setup. I didn't have a compressor big enough to support a fog buster or kool mist nozzle.

only 2 makers I know use the koolmist concept and I believe they both make micarta/G10 handles, not wood

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'll start out running straight water and see how bad the flash rust is. I might try and pick up a smaller bottle of Kool Mist and experiment with some wood to see how it reacts.

I wouldn't use the Kool Mist solution on wood without thoroughly rinsing the wood afterword.

Then you're up against the same obstacle.

I just use water and blow dry with compressed air.

I was hoping you'd reply Grizzled :) . Your wet grinding thread you had a while back is what i'm basing my wet setup on. I did decide to go with the tile pump instead of gravity fed though. Thanks for the input I'll just stick with water if that'll get the job done.

Grizzled -I do have an additional question about your wet grinding setup. Do you have your guttering attached to your grinder so it will continue catching water even in horizontal mode? I also have a tw-90 and was kicking around the idea of attaching it some way to do just that. I was thinking using magnets.

Sorry for going off topic.
