Kopa edition numbering

sorry in advance if this has been discussed already...

Does anyone understand the edition numbering system for Kopa Editions 11 and 12?

The certificates of authenticity that come in the box with each kopa say something like, "... this Kopa is the <whatever number> edition of the Kopa series"

The giraffe and the flavours/pearl/abalone both say they are 12th edition in the series; and the stacked wood and pacific blue both say they are 11th.

Yet, all others in the series have a unique edition number.

I was also wondering about the date code on the boxes. In some instances the certificate of authentication says the kopa was made in a specific month but the date code on the box is different, and the model number is definitely correct.

For example, the turquoise C92TQP has the following code on the box, "LF" which I think means December 2006, yet the COA states that the knife was made in July 2006.

Others that I found were only off by a month. It's easy to see that delays can happen and things don't meet deadlines, or the COA and box are printed in different locations with different instructions.

It doesn't really make a difference I just wondered why these inconsistencies exist and Which date is more correct the box or the COA?

Thanks
Dean

First issue (two editions sharing an edition number) can be put down to sloppy research and/or sloppy proof reading by whoever is responsible for the cards.

As for the other, the date on card reflects the initial release date of that edition. The code on the box shows the actual date of manufacture of that particular knife. Even 600 piece "limited editions" like the Kopa are produced in multiple smaller batches over a period of time.

Then again, like the edition number, I suspect the release dates shown on the cards may not always be totally correct either. My data could be wrong, but I show the Turquoise as coming out in November of '06, which would make your December "build date" a lot more understandable.
