G'day,

I considering picking up a Koster Bushcraft...

But, I don't know if I want the new one, or the old one...

So, if you have images of the old and the new, and other knives, post 'em!

And, while we are at it, why not post your 'woods' Kosters, the knives he makes that you would take out into the wilds.

Then, when I get my Ness, I will post it up!

Bring 'em on! Let's see your Bushcrafts, your Bushmasters, your WSSs, your Nessmuks, your Survivors, your Kit Knives, your Ramanons...

Best,
Marion

Yes - I am a knife-maker, and yes I will be making Bushcrafts, and Nessmuks, and all sort of 'Woods' knives, but his style is very different from my own, and I appreciate his work.

Either the perspective is weird, or you have a very small leg.... If I put my WSS on my leg, you might not be able to tell it was on my leg, after I cropped the image....

Marion-- i did add another one in, after i found it....:D

i don't know what you mean exactly, by how big is Trad. Archery?? it's pretty big and has been for centuries..:) i have been a trad. archer/bowhunter for years... both my boys (6 & 11), my wife and my father in law are all archers as well..

there has been quite a few threads on it here in the W&SS, if you want to do a search.. i am also more than willing to answer any questions you might have, feel free to email me..

i have a 2nd gen bushcraft with cocobolo and a gen 3 with micarta. i ended up tradeing the 3rd gen because the handle was on the thick side for me.

I have, in the past, been accused (frequently) of being a bit short. :D

I'll have to reproduce the photo at the next opportunity in order to verify the authenticity of the original.

Best,

i never had a frist gen but if you look here he talks about the changes in the bushcraft http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=619997

"***Difference between the 2009 Bushcraft and previous versions***

Steel options
More variety in handle options
1 lanyard hole instead of 2
Finished Flats....!!!!
Milled Thumbgrooves
Handle pin variety (Brass and Stainless available)
Thicker handles (3/8" slabs)
Blades will all be surface ground to ~0.125-0.130" thick for better cutting performance/durability ratio.
Blanks will be available (pricing =$75 for CPM3V and $80 for CPM154)
Slightly taller blade (edge to spine)
Larger lanyard hole (5/16" instead of 1/4")

Marion, can't do pics right now, but would strongly advise getting the one right before this generation. Have lost track of whether we're on Gen 3 or 4, but the new generation has a thicker handle that is not shaped as much as the last one. While I liked the thickness, the lack of contouring made it downright uncomfortable in my hand. And it was noticeably heavier, throwing off the balance a bit. The generation before however is quite sweet. Strong, but quick.

Here's a bad pic of a fairly unusual kit knife Dan built up for me a while back. It's in 1/8" A2.
