I got to spend some quality time in the woods yesterday with a pair of knives made by Christof.

Once Tony (tonym) got wind that I was interested in Koyote Knives he insisted that check out a couple of his.

Christof made this matched pair as a set and they feature a piggyback sheath set-up.

The sheath is nicely done in the usual Koyote Knives rustic style; you can see the set-up in the photo hanging from my Sharpshooter baldric rig.

The knives, with their forged finish and flamed Osage Orange scales, have a nice neo-rustic look about them.

Here’s a photo of me wielding the bigger of the two blades; my dog Aiko seems a bit concerned.

Here are a few shots of my dogs on the trail.

Jake, the Black Lab, carries the water and grub.

Aiko, the akita/husky mix, leads on the trail.

Jake poses for a shot as the daylight wanes.

Good pics Mike, sorry I didn't join you yesterday.

Did you get any in use shots of them?

And finally another photo of that fine pair of Koyote knives.

I’m still evaluating this pair, but based on what I’ve seen so far, I see one of Christof’s hand crafted tools in my future.:D:thumbup:

I like those Osage Orange handles. I might have to cut into a hedge fence post to see what is hidden inside.

Tony it’s hard to get good “in use” shots out in the field without a tripod when you’re traveling solo. ;)

Now if I could only teach Jake to hold that camera steady…

...Mike, you are one scary-looking dude! And I say that with the greatest of admiration! How many knives are you carrying? I see 2 on your baldric and one in your hand. I am guessing there are a few more that are not in plain sight.

I would like to propose a contest. It looks like Brother Mike is man enough to take it in good fun. Add a caption to the picture of Mike with the Koyote blade in his hand and the "make my day" expression on his face. If there is enough interest, we can move it to another thread so we do not hijack this one.

My caption:

Okay ladies, fess up....who ate the last butterfinger?

Some great looking knives, Mike. I like the looks of many of Christof's knives and would imagine they can do it all.

Some wonderful looking dogs, too!

Honestly officer, …I need all six of these knives. ;)

The two Koyote’s in the piggyback set-up are accompanied on the Baldric Rig by a modded Bark River Gameskeeper II that features a Big Horn Sheep handle and a recurved cutting edge.

On my strong side hip there is a Stephan Fowler Stone Mountain with a Walnut Burl handle in a belt sheath.

Lower down on my right leg there’s a Bark River Blackwater Boot Knife (Big Horn Sheep with Red Liners) in a KSF Pocket Sheath flanked by a Peak Matterhorn LED flashlight.

On the inside of my vest there is a Custom Dozier folder with stabilized Cocobolo scales, it’s paired with an Inova TI LED flashlight.

Traversing some rough terrain, I was traveling light.

great pics mike... i just got an osage bushcrafter and 2 PSK's, from christof yesterday..:)

Curious. How good is Osage as a knife handle? Is it heavy? It should be about indestructible.

The knife is just shy of 14” overall with the blade measuring 8 1/2” from the front of the scales to the tip.

Not as big as yours my friend.

Those handles are mighty fine! Very nice photos Big Mike! I wish I could get my dogs to carry stuff. I tried a rig on mine once and she just rolling on the ground trying to knock off the rig.

it's medium weight, not the feel you get from a mass of Ipe or lignum vitae, but not light like an unstabilized oak. It does hold up well, we have a kitchen knife that I made with osage scales 2 years ago on the rack. It's in daily use and the osage is a rich deep color at this point, but that's the only change.
