Well, good news is that kgd's Koyote Leuku had a twin:D

I've had it for about a week and finally made a mess so I could use it. I trimmed a bunch of branches with my Silky saw that were overhanging the pool.

I figured I would trim them up and chop them into small firewood pieces...

Well, the forward balance is excellent and the handle is very comfortable. About my only complain is that the butt should be flared just a little. I wasn't sweating, but my son and his friend were splashing and my hand was wet...I could foresee having the blade slip out of the grip if you weren't paying attention. Small issue, but I must say the handle is great and doesn't tire the hand.

It's a pretty thin blade and cuts like a razor. I haven't battened with it yet...I have some old, treated (and wrapped) 4x4's that I'm going to chop up...I'll get some battoning done on those.

Consider this guy a short, stout machete. The weight is great and it will do well for the pack when backpacking.

Here is the duo used today:

Just a follow up on the sheath by Koyote Girl…

A very well made and stout sheath; attachment is an adjustable strap (attached via two Chicago-style screws):

The strap is excellent and fits MOLLE webbing quite well. Here it is attached to the side of my RAID pack:

Again, excellent attention to detail and superb quality! TWO :thumbup:

Nice review. Looks like both of the "twins" perform excellently

ETA: Sheaths are always great when she does them. Big  to her :D

Rock,

Great pics and info! I sure like my Koyote Girl sheath, wear almost every day (I'm wearing it now actually..). I don't how I have lived as long as I have without a Koyote knife (and a ML, a Breeden, a Siegle, a RichardJ....). Its a good thing that I still have some life left ahead of me...

I love that knife. I think a flared end cap would add value also. And a big less blade length, for me.

Nice Pics & review of the knife  I'm still waiting on my Koyote knife :D I haven't seen Chris on here in the last bit...have you

Thanks guys; no I haven't seen him in a while either, but he's quick to respond to email. My guess is that he's in the shop pounding away:D

The leukuchete is awesome. I have 3 knives on order with Christof, but after that, I'm thinking about ordering a smaller version of the traditional leuku.

Glad you like the twin Rock6! One of the things I observed about it is that for its light weight (11.25 oz versus 18 oz of the RD-9), the actual chopping power didn't suffer as much as many folks would have you believe - at least the guys always talking about mass advantage of a chopper. Yes, the RD-9 is a better chopper buy only slightly so.

The koyote leuku can be carried all day on the belt (it is even lighter by 0.5 oz than the RC-6) which is probably not something I would do with the RD-9 which is more suited to the pack. The leuku is also thin enough to do machete like things in terms of chopping through vegetation without tiring you out. Doesn't have the reach of an 18" machete, but I find the length again better suited to belt carry.

That is a cool expedition style sheath that came with your Rock!
