KSF sheaths

I carry my Izula (2.8" blade, 6.25" OAL) in a Pocono sheath and it's nearly a perfect fit once the leather breaks in to the knife. A City Knife (2.6" blade, 6.1" OAL) is also an excellent Pocono fit. I don't like the knife to be buried so deep in the sheath that it's hard to draw it out.

There are other pocket sheaths, too, if the KSF sheaths don't seem to offer what you want. DLT Trading has some by other makers.

I'd have to say my Bradford Guardian 3, even though I didn't show it in the pix. The blade's a bit thinner than the Essentials (my 2nd favorite), and the knife is a little lighter with a longer cutting edge than the Essentials. The G10 handles have a nice grippy pattern to them and the steel is M390 in a spear point blade. It's just a really tough worker. The Essentials are gorgeous and Mike does a nice job on the handles and the convex edges, but the Bradford is a better slicer and a lighter carry. I use the Allegheny pocket sheath with it. The knife pouch on the others is too narrow. The G3 has a wide blade even though it's a thin one.

Good to know the G3 and the brkt necker 2 fit that sheath. I have both and have been considering a KSF sheath.

Welcome Craytab! You were one of the people I was referring to when I was talking about people who love their Guardian 3s! I love seeing your pics when you use it for food prep hah

If you get a new Allegheny that hasn't been broken in yet, and break it in for just one knife, you can get a really tailored fit for that knife. I use my one Allegheny sheath for several small FBs, so it's more of a general fit than a tailored fit, but they still ride pretty secure in it. That's another reason I don't like to leave a lot of the handle exposed. The knife is a little more secure in the sheath even though the fit isn't tailored to just that one knife.

That's accurate. Mine nearly looks like it was made for my Street Beat now. I've been considering getting one or two more for other knives because I don't want to put them in that one. But that leads me wanting to get new lights to pair with it. The Preon 2 fit perfectly in the side pocket and a couple color choices to choose from.

Super happy with it! Great balance, really sharp, carries great in the pocket or with the G clip on any type of pants. It's my jogging knife, when I go at least. Fit and finish is great to. The ergos to me are great but that's subjective. My brother has the same size hand as me but isn't as fond of it as I am. I couldn't recommend it enough. I just got Street Bowie too which is equally as great just bigger.

Just picked this setup from JK Knives, here on the forum. This is his USK, semi wharncliffe and tapered prybar, I opted for a belt loop on it, but it carries decent in the pocket regardless.
I was curious if anyone has tried to wet form their KSF pocket sheath yet? I am planning on picking up one to make the carry of the kit more pocket friendly, and I will be wet forming mine.
I will be carrying just the knife and my preon 2 in it.

Any suggestions? Dab or soak, how does it take some light tooling, has anyone tried yet?

I wet formed a couple of mine, an Adirondack and a Pocono. I was forming them for specific knives, not general use. I used a sponge to wipe water on the entire sheath once the knife was in place. Left it overnight and it did OK. The biggest thing I need to remember to do is to protect the blade with some mineral oil. The leather will get wet all the way through so the blade will also get wet.

KSF used to have videos on their web site showing how Derrick recommended doing this. Don't know if they're still up or not.

I just put some saran wrap on the knife and then hit it with a blow dryer to seal/shrink the wrap then wet form. I also use my leather spoon/press (it looks like curved metal spoon the size of a qtip, if not a bit larger) to press it into any nooks and crannies to act as a retention device aside from just a close fit.

Thanks for the info, I was curious as to how successful people have been in doing so.

I use a pocano with a Streamlight micro and a jr's bushcraft & survival neckr. It also kinda fits a bk11.

Does anyone know if the allegheny fits a spyderco mule team??
