For some of you reading this, you may have had dealings with Markus, and your experiences may be varied. Here is my account.
In these contentious and litigious days, it's nice to be able to experience some courtesy and forthrightness from someone that you're dealing with sight unseen and across the pond to boot.
I stumbled upon Markus Blattner's web site and commenced drooling all over the keyboard. I sent him an e-mail enquiring if he sells any of his frame-lock collections. He offered a Weston for sale.
We reached a price consensus and I Paypaled him the funds. Noting that he is in Austria, I expected maybe a week or two of transit time. Well, 4 weeks went by and nothing came.
I became a bit concerned and started a query with him. Markus checked the post office, got the tracking number and was ready to file an insurance claim. He did advice patience, due to the war situation and hence the general slow mail surface.
On the fifth week, the knife came. The envelop/package was very well wrapped, but appeard to have been driven over and sat under a lot of other packages. The knife was pristine (as Markus clainmed). I was/am very satisfied.
I went out on a limb to buy from a fellow that I've never met, who lives half a world away, and there is uncertainty as to whether I can get my money back (via Paypal) if the deal went sour. I felt fortunate that it didn't. I feel more blessed that I met yet another fellow knife collector that is trustworthy. Made my day. I'll do more business with him.
