It might be the bone that goes into the hollow portion of the actual horn.
The horn fits like a sheath over a bone finger with antelope horn.

Searched and seen the orange looking horns.

Do we know how kudu horn is obtained ?
Do they shed it naturally ?
If not I don't think kudu is eaten, and not killed for their horn and this would make it an uncommon material.

Hi, South African here. To answer your questions, no they don't shed their horns, it is obtained either by hunting or one that has died by nature. Kudu meat is eaten and it's one of the best tasting meats you can eat but is quite an expensive piece of meat to obtain.
