Have you had a look at the blades on Valiantco.com He has some fantastic asian blades. I am lucky enough to live 10 km away and I get to see them and feel the wieght and balance. His private collection is even better.
You may be inspired to westernize some of the other blades you see.

That is one sweet blade. I like the A2 steel also. I think it is one of the more underrated tool steels out there in the rush for the latest and greatest.
