mete, I guarantee you that Old Jimbo knows a thing or 2 about big blades, including khuks. He's likely done more testing and re-testing with big choppers than any 2 or 3 other people on this forum put together.
Khukuris are most definitely excellent general purpose and chopping blades, provided you choose the model that suits you, AND you know how to properly use it. As Jimbo pointed out in his article, the potential to maim yourself with a khuk is greater than with any straight knife. That fantastic chopping potential will work just as well on a person's leg as it would on wood, so care muct be exercised.
