kukris for sale

I see both sides.

Powell probably was not aware of the basic member limitation. I doubt he did it deliberately to foil the regs. That doesn't mean there shouldn't be rules.

Being banned--for life? For when? Will Spark accept a gold membership from JP?

I would imagine so. Banning him was strictly a business decision, and accepting a new Gold Member would be a good business decision.

Gents,
I must totally agree with Spark's rules and only ask that they apply to everyone.

He has let us push the envelope many times and that's why this is such a great Forum.

The generosity of the members is totally unbelievable and much appreciated, but everyone has done more than their share.

Thanks

It should be reminded that "selling," even by Gold Members, is restricted to The Knife Exchange forum. I understand that the events of this thread may have been seen as unfortunate to some, but it was certainly necessary.

it is YOUR generosity which has always been a hallmark of the character of this forum, and your courtesy which helps to set a standard of behavior for all.

Enough of this, Welcome back.

Ron,

It was never necessary to ban John. Even the slightest bit of investigation would of found out that John only needed to be reminded, and many here would jump at the chance to help him out. The rules are fine and good. Their execution was ridiculous in this case. Banning John like a common troll was way out of line. I'm glad Bobby B stepped up and said his part, but better reasoning must flow before Spark steps in with this crap. We need only look back about a year to see how we allowed all kinds of pathetic trolling to go on for long periods of time before becoming proactive in banning the obvious trolls. Here, we jump at banning John, announcing his status, with very little investigation. John's "JDP" account had been set up because he had password problems with his "John Powell" account, so he looked like a newbie, trying to sell without paying for gold. But just back a couple of months ago, John began selling off some of his Khuk collection to pay for medical bills since both his insurance and the VA refused to pay. And John's been here for years, a model forumite. A few words would have solved the issues. No, this was not necessary.

We all make mistakes and I've certainly made my share and still do. I take heart in the old proverb: To err is human, to forgive divine.

I'm just happy to see John back. He probably knows more about old khukuris than anybody in the US and I greatly appreciate his expertise on this forum.
