Kukri's from khukuriblades.com

As a heads up, I don't believe they're a paying dealer and this may be construed as deal spotting. For feedback about vendors, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly subforum is your best bet. That aside, welcome to Bladeforums.

Welcome to Bladeforums. Thank you for removing the prices. I went ahead and removed the links as they were links to retail pages with prices. As an alternative, you could post pictures of the blades you're interested in purchasing to discuss. This is not the right forum to discuss the vendor you have in your thread title. As VictorKilo mentioned, The Good, The Bad, The Ugly is the place to go if you wish to discuss a vendor.

I also recommend you take the time to read the site and Exchange rules...you'll find links to both in my signature.

Thanks

Jason

Hi all,

I am looking to get my first Kukri for a survival pack. I would like something very rugged that could handle all sorts of abuse at a reasonable price. From what I have read "villager" models may be exactly what I am looking for. Ideally the blade would be 10+ inches, and weight in the 1.5 - 2.5 lb range, preferring heavy to lighter seeing this will also be taking place of a hatchet/axe. I know everyone here loves Himalayan Imports and I would be foolish to ignore all the recommendations, but I don't see any villager models available and the least expensive model that fits my criteria is the 15" Ang Khola. Ideally I would git either the 18" Ang Khola or the Chiruwa Ang Khola. I am sure these are the best Kukri that money can buy; unfortunately they are a little out of my price range. If I was using it every day or even considered myself a hard-core camper I might be able to justify it.

So I shopped around and found khukuriblades.com.

The most likely candidates:
The Great Panawal (10" blade, 1.75 - 2 lbs Hi carbon tempered steel blade, steel hardness- spine=22-25 RC, belly=45-46 RC, edge=54-55 RC, water buffalo leather scabbard, indian rose wood handle, 1 x small knife, 1 x sharpner):

Panawal Black (Raw) (10" blade, 1.75 - 2 lbs Hi carbon tempered steel blade, Steel hardness-spine=25 RC, belly=46 RC, edge=55 RC, buffalo leather scabbard, indian rosewood handle, 1 x small knife, 1 x sharpner):

The largest, heaviest, most expensive Kukri I am looking at:
Angkhola Supreme (13" blade, 4.4 lbs [I believe that is shipping weight] Hi carbon tempered steel blade, Steel hardness-spine=25 RC, belly=46 RC, edge=55 RC, buffalo leather scabbard, Indian rose handle):

I have looked at previous posts and seen mixed reviews on khukuriblades.com and most of them were quite old (2007 or so). Has anyone had recent dealings with this company? If so how is the quality of their products? Does anyone have experience with the models above, and if so what do you think of them? Any feedback related to this company and/or its products would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Sam

They're another name for Khukuri House. Please just do a search for KH here, you will find a lot of posts with owner feedback and information.

You will also find references for Himalayan Imports Khuks, they have a subforum here, provide local support (USA) and have a lot of fans.

Only comment I will make regarding your posts is that you won't get a khuk looking like the pictures on their site. The knife you get will perform fine, but won't be as cosmetically nice as you see online.

The KH kukries are pretty decent, and I like the one I own. They're a nice middle of the road kukri. That being said, there are finish and shipping issues sometimes, so I'd maybe save up and wait for a HI model or try to snag one off the exchange forums here if I were you.

Hi guys
This is my first ever post on this site.
i just ordered a angkhola supreme with 2 customizations, a slightly longer handle (im 191cm/6ft 3 inchs need a large handle) and a much thicker blade from 11mm to 15mm well over 1/2 a inch. i wanted a monster kukri to be proud of, i feel im strong enough to handle it (despite already being really heavy already)
i will keep everyone posted when it arrives they started making it today, will take 15 days to make plus all the normal shipping arrangements
