I am not going to explain how I got my hands on the beautiful Jaraya horn handled Kumar Reti knife. All I will say is Auntie is a fantastic lady, businesswoman, and a friend. This knife is now a treasured family heirloom, and will stay until the end of days. It's also so sharp, that you could be cut, by just being too close to it...:)

It is 12.75" OAL, and 7.8oz...is that awesome, or what?

Just all by itself in all its glory.

In my hand, and oh, it feels soooo good.

The blade is oh so sharp, straight, and no drift at all

That looks amazing. I espicially like the crosshatch, of course, after that handle. And so light! It must be wicked fast

Retis are knives made from worn out files. Hence the crosshatch. I personally find my reti to be too light for my taste. I prefer a little more weight to my kukris, but that is personal preference.

It is extremely fast, and agile. I prefer my blades as light as possible. Of course, with my actual khukuri chopping users, I like some weight and heft to them.

The 12" reti would be a fighter if anything. Of course, the neutral or light weight of a blade, makes it much more difficult to control without one having very good form.

What's the handle length on yours? Mine has a bit too short of a handle for me.

Alright I aint askin! Sure is a sexy knife. Im pretty sure that is bone tho. If it bothers ya you can send it to me. Arent you allergic to bone? Glad you scored another Reti! Man! Thats a light one for sure:thumbup:

It's a 4.5" handle. Probably small for a few of you here, but perfect for me, my hands are the miniscule Asian hands...:(

You know I think you are right, I'm checking with auntie to see if she sent the wrong knife, or just mistakenly told me it was antler. In either case, it's beautiful.

Interesting. Mine is 4.25 from the bottom of the bolster to the buttcap. I also checked and found that my seemingly long-handled IBBB has about the same length handle, but between the shape of the handle and size of the blade it feels quite long.

I'd say bone too which is still awesome and I'm so in love with it. Is it a sin to covet thy neighbors knife?

I have small Asian hands too, well they aren't really Asian but they are small. I guess they are small Missouri Hands.

I hear Texas is talking about succeeding again, if you got any issues with it, send it to me and keep it in the USA.

Hey it says in the title Jaraya Bone???? In my line of work that's what we would call a "clue".:D

Texas always succeeds. It's a very successful place. Now there has been occasional talk of seceding, but most of us don't take that seriously.

My mistake again, it's Jaraya Horn.

This is straight from auntie:

Regarding the Reti handle I just spoke with Kumar and the handle is made of Jaraya horn handle.

I have seen several Jaraya while back trip to Oregon. Very sociable animal always with large group of family and friend.

I am going to need to do research on a Jaraya...:p

Great pix and post, thank you for sharing

Sounds to me like it should be easy to collect these horns! :b

It's a beautiful knife Cul. That handle reminds me a little of your Yuvrav Western, similar shape. Bet that thing feels like a lightsaber in hand

Edit: Forgot to respond to pyro. I get mine on Amazon, but I also order a lot of other stuff. Cvs or any other pharmacy should have it though

I've got a question that's at best tangentially related to this thread. Where do you guys get your mineral oil? I've been to Menard, Home Depot, Harbor Freight, and Lowes and all I found was this: Howard Products BBB012 Butcher Block and Cutting Board Oil, 12-Ounce https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004G6X0J2/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_hE0qwbJBSFX2E at Menard which cost more than Amazon and seems really expensive.

I got mine from Target, you can try any pharmacy, it can be used a as a laxative. relatively cheap, they run between $2.00 to $4.00 a bottle, I use about 1.5 bottles to fill a mason jar, and then I soak my handles in it.

I would say that I like it about 85% of the Yuvraj Western Knife, but this one has more character.

Yes, it is very agile, and is almost weightless. Awesome is the only description that really works.
