Kumar Karda: Finally Coming Around to a Classic

Yangdu was nice enough to send me over a KK - Heres a pic of it next to my AK! I have never inserted an image so this is officially a test!!

Darth, You are right on. HI website even says it is a Puukko style knife. I love mine though it is a touch long (about 8 inches too long) to carry in this state :D
Still as a hiking knife, I can't think of a tool that fits Steely's list of requirements better.

I'm getting super stoked for the hiking trip tuesday. The KK on my hip next to a .327 sp101 for trail protection (yea, talked myself into a new gun for a non-reason:o).

The weather looks promising and my daughter has been talking about it non stop:)

.357??

There is a 327 caliber. I wasn't aware the SP101 was chambered for it but maybe so.

It doesn't seem to have went far off the launch pad in the popularity scale.

Never played with one myself.

The neat thing about the .327 Federal Magnum is that you can fire virtually any of the multitude of other rimmed .32 cartridges in it, since it's now the longest, including .32 H&R magnum, .32 S&W Long or Short, .32 Colt, and I think even the .32 ACP/7.65 Browning, since it's "semi-rimmed". Steely, if you get a chance, I'd like to know if .32 ACP actually works in it. I've been tempted to get one of the Ruger "Single Seven" 7-shot stainless single-action revolvers chambered in .327 Federal Magnum.

I'm posting from the hotel while my wife and daughter are swimming. As a guy in the pool field, I know what kind of filth they are stewing in, but they don't seem to mind. Yuck.

Anyway, the KK and the .327 were the flavors of the day of hiking. I packed a 4" sp101 stoked with .327 in a tanker style shoulder holster made for the 1911/M9. Worked great.

The KK cut up lunch, opened packets of gummie snacks, and pointed out a teeny tiny praying mantis to my daughter.

And yes, the .327 is fun. Hot and mimics the .357 with less recoil. It also shoots pretty much anything with a ".32" on it and a rim. Wadcutter. 32 s&w long makes a nice little hole with out a lot of flash. Would make a fine bunny buster...if I hunted;)

Fun caliber and the SP makes a nice compliment to the KK for hiking.

I've actually seen videos of .32 acp being fired with no ill effects. It's probably not the most accurate and I've heard off misfires due to the primer sitting a little deeper, but it's well below the pressure spec of .327.

Actually, it's the only round I haven't tried out of mine yet. S&W long and short have the report and recoil of a .22. Not something I would hunt a bear with, but fun for putting holes in paper and would probably take out smaller edibles.

The .327, well I have only shot 14 rounds out of it. A box of 20 SD costs about 30 bucks! I may take up reloading, honestly, I really just plink. Hard hitting .327 screamers aren't my flavor of choice. I would be more likely to spend an afternoon shooting powder puff .32 s&w given my druthers.

The .327 is a fun round, though. Good bit of bang and flash, but out of a steel 4" revolver, it's no harder on the hands than .38 +p (maybe a tad tamer).

Mine is currently sporting a set of Pachmayr compact grips. I put those on when I am going to sweat all over the gun. Tomorrow, when I get home, I have a pair of really gorgeous SP insert scales a very kind friend made and sent to me a couple years back that are going to be installed.
