Certain there has to be a material other than Leather that will work as a Kydex sheath lining.
Looking for Retention and noise reduction when removing the blade.
Have in the past used a couple pieces of 10oz leather glued to the sides and then wet formed as the sheath was closed.
My concern would be extreme weather scenarios Wet and Cold or both.
Will be making a Heavy Duty sheath in .096 kydex clamshell style that is riveted shut. With a tension adjuster chicago screw at the top.
Ideas? or direct me to someone who can answer this

I have heard of people using the loop side of Velcro ,I have also read it retains water like crazy.

Alcantara... You can find it in most places that sell fabrics. It is a pseudo suede-ish synthetic that is durable and thin. It is also chemical resistant but can retain water though not as bad as some other stuff. It is also flame retardant.
It is used by some of the manufacturers for holster lining. Can be treated with water repellant after adhesion with glue. Not before, can effect the bond. Use a light amount of good quality contact cement... Most upholstery grade stuff is backed nicely ready to be affixed with glue.
There are several variants, ultrasuede, microsuede and such as alcantara is a tradename but as long as it is a polyester/polyurethane mix fabric it will have the same properties. The fabric stores I have been to know what I want when I say alcantara...
It is very long lasting and butter smooth.
Cheers.
